DVC Construction at Epcot

Can't find this anywhere else on the Forums. My apologies if I missed it, but this new website format is very difficult to navigate and find what I'm looking for. Anyway, that new construction next to Canada in Epcot (where they always had the Rainbird sprinklers display during Flower & Garden festival) is nothing to get excited about. It's a new DVC sales/preview structure.....like they don't have enough of them around already. What a waste.

Agreed, sales facilities are nothing to get excited about, but some of our insiders have hinted at the possibility of building a DVC resort "inside" EPCOT near world showcase somewhere with views of the illuminations show and easy access to EPCOT. I think if it's done right it could be pretty cool.

The fact that they are building a new sales structure leads me to believe that they have no intentions to slow down the building of DVC units anytime soon.

Whoa whoa whoa, do we have any more information on this resort inside EPCOT? Any threads you can link to? That's awesome!

A DVC inside of Epcot would be awesome!!!! Hmmm, I wonder how they would work it with tickets to enter the park unless it would be just outside so no park entrance needed.

I have been MIA from this site for a while so haven't seen the DHS Carsland thread but I did recently read an article stating they would put it where the Lights Stunt show is. Carsland would be so amazing there!!!! My boys and hubby would love it!!

A DVC would mean you don't have to walk 3 miles back to your car after doing the world showcase...they need to get some rick shaw's going over in china, that park makes my feet swear at me

I can't imagine a DVC inside the world showcase ever. There just isn't any space. Directly behind each country is backstage. They would have to redo the entire backstage area to make a DVC that close work. It isn't like Beach Club and Boardwalk are that far away. It is a short 15 minute boat ride and there is a sidewalk there if people want to walk.

I think the reason why they really may consider it is that DVC is so profitable. Once they build out at GF and Poly where to next? It would be hard to build a DVC resort somewhere that is not directly connected to a park and sell it for the high premium they are getting now for BLT at $165 a point and I am sure even more for GF. It might add to the cost to move around backstage buildings at World Showcase but they demolished a hotel wing at CR to build BLT so it wouldn't be unprecedented to make some pretty large infrastructure improvements to clear space.

In my opinion it's not the short walk that is the selling feature, but direct views into the park and direct views of illuminations. Sitting on your balcony and watching the show would be pretty cool. People will jump at buying points at EPCOT DVC if they build it. I would guess that the majority of the resort would be behind the main buildings and only a select number of rooms would actually have illuminations views, but I bet they would add some kind of lounge similar to top of the world at BLT to allow everyone a prime spot to view the show. As long as they keep the theming done well and in keeping with the countries they are located in, I can't see a problem with this. AKV and WLV are good examples of DVC embracing the themes at the resorts.

I am a DVC owner at the Beach Club and I honestly do t know where they would put this resort. It would be hard to theme another resort to close to The Beach Club Villas. I mean if your walk Epcot from the Villas at BC it literlally 5 it less mins to tye international gateway. Boardwalk is a 10ish min walk depending on where your room is...so I don't see another DVC resort since they have one that's close and one that is almost already in the park. I would say they are building an extension to the Villas at the Beach Club since its one of the smaller villas. But again who knows maybe it will be a area for DVC to have their HQ for sales so that they don't have to take people out of the park to go over information...which I think would draw more people to going to the seminar. The one now is all the way out at OKW and it is defineatly a ride from any park. And let's face it some people that are going to these seminars don't want to leave the parks since they may or may not know the next time they are coming back since their not DVC members. Just my two cents I guess we will not know until they tell us like usual.

I don't think the building going up now has anything to do with new villas or that if they build new villas they are looking to build them near the BC. The rumor is they would actually be built attached to World Showcase on the EPCOT side of the canal that seperates BCV and EPCOT. In the original thread they talked about maybe 3 to 5 pavilions with units built on top of existing buildings and/or directly behind them. If you look at EPCOT on google maps you can see that there are a lot of backstage service buildings behind the show buildings at World Showcase. They could either move backstage buildings around or potentially build new buildings with storage and backstage areas on the lower floors and villas on the upper floors.

A new sales center in EPCOT makes sense either way.

From what I gather the sales centers will be going to more than just EPCOT because people are not wanting to leave the park to do the tour.

I was not trying to say it would be just to sell EPCOT DVC units. They will be selling GF and then probably Poly before they would build anything new. The EPCOT DVC thing is just a rumor at this point, but the sales center is being built.

Oh yea yea yea. Wasn't trying to discredit or discount anything you said. Just that I'd expect to see this other than just EPCOT.

Photo update as of Sunday, February 18, 2018. A few weeks ago, the small area between the DVC cabin and the entrance to the gardens and Le Cellier Steakhouse at the Canadian pavilion was walled off. The space is open now with two new wooden sculptures, which look like the artist just finished and left the tools in place. The bears face the DVC kiosk (not the Canadian Pavilion), so that is why I posted on this thread. The sculptures are placed to appear the DVC kiosk is the artist's workshop.
