Dumbo reopening delayed until March!

That is no surprise, the Dumbos look like they could be ready but StoryBook Land doesn't look like it is going to be opening on time. I know they been kicking it in to high gear over there. It is disappointing but I am still excited!

Yeah, the area still need a lot of work and I was getting doubtful that they would make the Feb 17 date. On the plus side the longer the opening is delayed they greater chance both Dumbo's would open together.

WDW website now says March 12th.

Where on the site did you see this? Was it on the park calendar? I just checked the calendar and I still see Feb 17th. Of course this wouldn't be the first time different people have gone to the calendar and saw different dates.

Hopefully they will be able to keep to the new date, will be there in March and specifically at the MK on March 12th. So if they keep to that date, will be able to ride Dumbo on our next visit.

Can anyone else confirm this date change? The Magic Kingdom park calendar still shows:

"Dumbo the Flying Elephant
Closed For Refurbishment [Monday, January 09 - Friday, February 17]"

This looks right, on the latest ariel shots, they still havent finished the tents, and are just beginning to move old dumbo. they also just put in the curbing in some sections there. they still gotta do painting, install the old dumbo, finish the tents and whats going inside them and do the landscaping, March sounds like a better date now. Like anything with construction things dont always go according to schedule, its definetly a let down for those hoping to see everything in storybook circus in late feb. but looks like ya gotta wait a month longer now

From what we have heard they did not intend to have the second Dumbo open at the same time as the first. There was a Disney press release that said the old Dumbo would join the new one "later in the year". It has also been assumed that the tents would open later. From everything I have read the plan was to open Dumbo, Goffini and the train station on Feb 17, and the rest later. It's going to be tight but I think they could still make the Feb 17 date.

Yeah its not surprising at all. I didn't think they would be able to get all that work done in 1 months time from seeing the aerial pics. I wasnt able to find where they said they were pushing the date back though. Nothing was posted to the official Disney Parks blog either.

I have seen the news posted on a bunch of Disney sites, so either the date changed on the site then changed back (which has happened before), or different people are seeing different dates (which has also happened before).

I know the elephants have been removed. I think the spinner and cars are going in for a cleaning and painting before being reinstalled. Otherwise the new one will likely make the current one look pretty rough.
