Dumbo #1 has been restored. Tiles are all back on the sidewall and Dumbos with scratches had then buffed and painted.

Also while riding last night I could see the work going on in the big blue tent and it looks like they barely started! It didn't look like it was even close to being done.

That's all.

How do the Dumbo repairs look? Are they noticiable?

They were still getting new permits issued for the tents as of last week, so I am not surprised to hear that they aren't to far along.

Well it was late in the evening and I didn't notice anything "off" about them, but my wife kept saying she could tell, so take that for what its worth. :p

Some of these scratches were pretty deep. Are we looking at a bond-o job? I would think that some of the elephants needed to be entirely re-cast

Are the tents going to open with the second phase of Fantasyland? I don't know why I assumed these would be open with the second Dumbo...

Any updates on what WDI is going to do to reassess the Casey Jr. engine in the Spray and Soak Play Area?

There is a whole other thread about this, but the consensus on that thread is that ADA requirements (or fear of them) forced TDO to put up that ugly fence that makes Casey look like he was a very bad train that needed to be locked up in a cage. Kids are ignoring the fence and climbing on it anyway, which is actually more dangerous than having no fence since I can easily see kids falling off the railing or getting hurt trying to climb over.

Any news on whether the fence will be removed and Casey's interior cabin plexi-glassed shut so that kids can't go in there?

I haven't seen any managerial types around it anymore and they are still staffing a CM there to keep kids off the fence.

I wonder if this means the solution will be to just keep that staffed with a CM from now on....or if the managerial types are using the CM there to mitigate things until a permanent solution is ready to be built. As in, are the managerial types no longer hanging around because they have made a decision and there's no need to observe any longer?

why did dumbo need repair?

On about a half dozen of the elephants on Spinner 2, something was making holes in the back of the left side of the elephants' backsides. Remember that Spinner 2 was the one that was originally at MK...it was the one that was moved after Spinner 1 (the new one) was built.

For some reason, when they moved and reinstalled Spinner 2 something inside the elephant started grinding outwards, or something was rubbing against the elephant to dig those holes when it was going up and down.

Apparently, they have solved the problem and have repaired the fiberglass elephants so there are no more holes and they've repainted them so you can't tell the holes were ever there.

I think there will always needs to be cast members watching over this area. Water, kids, running, slips and falls...it's gonna happen. And the fence doesn't look near as bad as some pictures make it look.

Actually, this problem was spotted on the new spinner which was the first one installed and opened. It was reported that the refurbed spinner also had this problem but it was corrected before it opened. You can read all the details here:

I saw an update on this somewhere today, but I don't remember where.

It turns out that Spinner 2 did not have to be shut down. They did turn off the fountain water feature for two weeks. So they fixed something. They also did some kind of retiling.

So whatever was harming the elephants on that Spinner was remedied without it having to be rebuilt or anything.
