Dumbo ears moving again? Do you think there's any chance?

Back when Dumbo first opened in DL, there was a mechanical way the ears moved. As with many things, it didn't hold up to daily stress very well and they changed them to the non-moving ears we see today.

I think it would be a good thing to try to make the ears move again on the ride, maybe with the moving up/down of the controls.

Thoughts?

Sorry. Didn't know the ears ever moved and really don't care. I avoid this ride like the plague.

But if there was ever a time to make the switch, it would seem the relocation during the expansion would be the time.

If they went with the two seat configuration like the Carpets, I wouldn't mind seeing something like this. The back seat "tilt" button is a joke. No one wants to get stuck controlling that on a spinner.

QFT.

IMO, though, the ears from the original 1955 version of the Disneyland Dumbos seemed kinda tacky with the ears on hinges. It looked like an oversize McDonald's kids meal toy.... :lookaroun

I heard - surprisingly - that dumbo was one of the more popular attractions at MK. Not sure if that is true, but it explains why they ard doubling capacity. Seems to me that they are plussing enough with the 'no queue' concept. So, IHMO no moving ears are necessary. :ROFLOL:

Yes it is one of the most popular attractions. One of the best quotes regarding the Fantasyland Expansion came from John Lasseter explaining the two Dumbo Spinners, "Our youngest guests wait in the longest lines for the shortest rides."

Dumbo really has to be one ride where i question the logic of storytelling/theme for a disney attraction. Ok, so its a kids ride, and i shouldn't be analyzing this as much as i should, but hey. i thought there was only one Dumbo? did they clone him? and what with this new expansion, have they cloned him even more???

The imagineers always do an awesome job at blurring the worlds between "ride" and "story/theme". A rollercoaster at the park isn't just some rollercoaster with stick on theming (leaving out primeval whirl here)

But anyway, what with this multiple Dumbo issue, wouldn't kids just think the same?

a better way to relieve this, would be to theme the ride more as a travelling circus theme (which is kind of already has) but (controversial idea here) make the actual Dumbo cars look less like Dumbo, and actually put THE Dumbo in the new circus part of the que. like an animatronic. so kids get to meet him as they que.
