...but this has been nagging at me for a while. I don't understand why Disneyland is starting the 50th anniversary on May 5 when it opened in July. What is the story behind this? (again, please be gentle on me. I am but a minion  )

Well, I know there is a better reason then what I am about to say but these are my three thoughts ...

1.) 05-05-05 is 50 backwards

2.) It's basically a day for the media to see what the 50th is all about.

3.) They want the celebration to be more then 12 months so why not start early then end late.

I think it's more of an issue of July 17th being in the middle of summer, and they just want to have two full summers where people can come for the 50th--all an attempt to take money. The fact that it's 05-05-05 was just luck on Disney's part and it sounds kewl.
