The proposed closure of DD for refurbishment and painting has now been postponed until the new year.
Anybody any thoughts as to why ?

Probably because the Thanksgiving season is pretty busy, and it would be nice to have one of the park's biggest rides open then. The same goes for the Christmas season, which is also expected to be busy (DD was not scheduled to re-open until a week before Christmas).
