DTD AMC Theater Question

During our December vacation, the final part of the Lord of the Rings trilogy comes out.

#1. Does anyone know if the AMC theater at DTD plays the "hot" movies on the day that they premier?

#2. Do they sell tickets to the shows at that theater online or by phone more than a week in advance?

#3. Do they have a late night movie, like an eleven pm or later show?

Thanks! Mickey

Well, I do work for AMC Theaters. So, I might be able to help. However, its not the one in Disney World...my theater is in Canada.

1. My AMC theater plays hit movies...so I can't see how Disney World wouldn't!

2. Advanced tickets can be purchased on AMCtheaters.com. However, I don't think it will be more than 1 week.

3. Maybe? I know our theater had late showings! of LOTR2

while i can't say with 100% certainty, i believe the AMC theatre (like many of the other establishments in DTD) also serves the surrounding area as a movie theatre, just like whatever the local theatre is in your area.

I know that when we were there it seemed like there were movies from all studios showing. You might want to try giving them a call.

sorry i dont have more to tell you...

It's a big AMC - a regular theater just like any other megaplex across the country. So, they'll most likely release movies just like any other theater. For a movie like this you might be lucky enough to find showtimes up to a month before its release and buy tickets up to a week before. Go to MovieTickets.com (AMC's web site) to find out more about this particular theater.

I know when I was there last May they had Spider-Man on opening day. I don't know if they had a midnight show or not. I would be surprised if they didn't have LOTR showing there on opening day.

The major releases are definitely there on opening weekend. Theatres 1 and 2 have balconies and are huge.

I know tickets can be purchased/reserved early in person.

I can't remember what movies they were, but there were a few 11:00/midnight shows back in 2001. I think it was Shrek, Atlantis, Star Wars, and a couple more that I remember.

If you can, try to see TLOR at the DTD theaters. We saw the 2nd one the day after it officially opened in theater 1 (of 24 theaters). If possible, try to see your movie in either theaters 1 or 2. They are HUGE (with two balconies, in fact) and the screen is the largest I have seen (besides IMAX). The state of the art sound system makes you feel like you are in the movie.

Even if you don't see it in theater 1 or 2 (TLOR plays in more than one theater when it first opens), almost all of the theaters are bigger than your average theater with stadium seating and surround sound (I think there are also some smaller, "traditional" theaters that don't have stadium seating, otherwise they are just as state of the art).

We saw a movie at 10:50pm on a weekend, so they do have late shows. I think there are some later shows also, but I'm not sure.

If possible try and see the DLP showing of a film instead of the standard showing (that is if it has been converted, not many films are). DLP is the Digital Light Projection system made by Texas Instruments, it is "the world's only all-digital display solution" as they say.
Basically you get to see the same movie but without any crackles and specks plus with enhanced colours (Up to 35 trillion colours), IMHO it's much better than the normal version.
