Drought

Forgive me if this has been discussed, I don't really come to this side of the forum that much. But since California is in a severe drought...how does it affect Disneyland?

Well the submarines are closed.. I'm pretty sure the drought was one of the main reasons, if not the only reason for its 9 month closure. Also Grizzly River Run at DCA went into a refurbishment recently in the spring/early summer season. Probably had to do with the drought, but nothing confirmed really.

I'm pretty sure the scheduled maintenance/refurbishment is the reason for those closures.

It won’t affect your stay. You may see a freeway reader board asking people to conserve or the notice the hills a little dryer than usual, but that’s it.

That and operational savings. Subs cost a ton to run, and they only recently actually started work on them. I'm sure someone got a bonus for coming up with that one!

There is no known or visible impact of the drought on Disneyland, or any business or residence in Southern California (except people who never water their lawn anyway). There have been no water restrictions put in place by local authorities, and no meaningful publicity campaign to ask folks to conserve.

Californians have already cut back in huge ways on their water use over the last 30 years, and Disneyland has many types of low-flow faucets and water conservation techniques that are largely unseen and unfelt by visitors or employees.

We've had several very dry years lately, for sure, but nothing has changed in the way people use water this year in Southern California. Something tells me this winter will be a wet one.
