Hey I'm going to be going to UCF in the fall and to make it work financially I will definately have to work two jobs. I'm already work for Target and am getting transferred there and hope to work as Disney also. The only problem is availability. There is going to be some overlap between the two and was wondering at Disney How easy is it to drop a shift?? Does someone else usually take it ?? and do you know if Disney monitor it?? Is there a limit to how many you can drop?? It shouldn't be a problem but I want to be prepared.

I don't know how it is for different departments, but in Entertainment there is a shift give-away book where cast members post shifts. Sometimes when I request a shift I got from that book, I am notified that the shift has already been taken.

If you find a person who is willing to pick up the shift you are giving away, and there are no over-time issues (e.g., if it were going to be OT for one person and not OT for the other), then it should work out.

I don't know if there is a limit to how many shifts you can give away.

Hope it all works out! :)

It happens all the time. Many areas have a bulletin board or white board where CMs can post to try to give away or pick up shifts. The CMs in my department have even set up a facebook group to facilitate giving away and picking up shifts. If you're part time, there's no limit to how many you can give away. Full-timers must maintain a minimum average number of hours worked per week, lest they be dropped to part time (though it takes a while to get that low, and you get a few warnings).

Note that sometimes, depending on operational needs, certain areas can put a freeze on giving away shifts. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.
