We will be staying at Pop for 2 weeks in May and we were thinking about driving to some of the parks. We usually use the resort transportation but were thinking about doing it different this year. Which parks would you drive to or would u just stick to the resort transportation?????

I prefer to come and go on my own time, therefore I always have, and will continue to use my own transportation to all four parks. I have found that the extra money needed for parking is well worth the convenience.

The last time we were there was the first time we drove to the parks and it was great. When we go back this August, the only park that we probably will not drive to is the Magic Kingdom. It just takes too long having to park the car, most likely wait for the tram so you don't have to walk forever in the parking lot, and then to have to wait for the boat or monorail before you even get into the park. It was just a bit of a pain.

we usually drive to WDW then park the truck until we go to DTD. I also prefer to do the resort bus to DHS as the driveway into that park seems to quite congested at most times.
We like not having to leave during the evening and trying to remember where the car is and then navigate the unfamiliar roadways when we are tired from the parks.

We typically drive to the park in the morning when it opens. Then back to the hotel for a rest and take the bus to the park for our evening session. This way we aren't driving in the dark with all the traffic after a long day at the park. And hubby can have a beer or two.

We always drive. I hate waiting around for buses that are most likely crowded anyway. I want to arrive and leave when I'm ready and not have to contend with the crowds. We never have any trouble. We stay onsite so the parking is free. Disney has tons of signs around so it's almost impossible to get lost. If you do miss a turn more than likely there is another way there and you will see another sign. Just remember which park area your resort is in and follow those signs (MK, AK, Epcot, DTD, HS). We also list the parking area we are in on our cell phones as a memo so we don't forget (Giraffe 40 at AK and such). I love sitting down in the nice quiet car after a long day at the parks where no one else is right on top of me because it's overcrowded like the bus. I would never visit the parks any other way. The only park that I agree with being a pain to drive to is the MK but I would still do it if necessary. We normally stay in the MK resort area so we have the monorail/boats but the one time we did stay somewhere else we still drove and it was still worth it.

One of the 'perks' (for me) is to park the car in the parking lot (at the resort for the duration) and leave the driving to Disney.

I agree 100%! That's what Disney Transportation is there for. Like it or hate it, it's still a nice convenience.:)

We need time for things to happen.
Drive to every single park. I know many say Disney transportation is convenient..but I disagree.

Being able to come and go as you please is the greatest convenience of all.
Not waiting for a bus and then having to possibly standing on a bus packed in like sardines stop after stop- pure joy.

The only thing better is using the monorail if you're staying at a monorail resort and your at MK or Epcot. Otherwise take your car - you'll never go back.

It's just not convenient to me to wait for the bus that may or may not be filled up before I even get to step on it because the line is so long. It's also not convenient to me to have to fight for what little space I might have once I'm finally on it. What's convenient to me is hopping into my car usually within minutes of leaving the park and being back at my resort before most people are even on the bus.

For the people that said they like to drink and not have to worry about driving I think Disney Transportation is a great option. I also think it's a great option for anyone that is worried about driving at night or in traffic (such as my mother). I don't mean to say anything mean about people who like the buses, just that they aren't for me.

We have done it both ways. When we stay at the poly we dont rent a car but if the budget doesnt permit it, we stay at the all star and drive to the parks. On our upcoming trip we are staying at the all star movies and are renting a car for 10 days. The added expense is totally worth it especially when going to dtd. Have you ever made that hell ride on a disney bus? Its easy to get around and parking is free inside the world so, add that to the convenience of leaving at the end of a tiring day and not having to wait for a (packed) bus.

According to the Unofficial Guide's time trials, taking your car is faster to every destination except for the MK. We drive everywhere and appreciate the convenience. If you arrive before park open, you can park very close to the park's entrance - especially at the water parks.

When you add the time for getting lost, and most of you will, then stopping in the middle of the road to look at your out dated map, it's probably of Universal Studios anyway, parking the car, walking the 1/4 mile to the tram wait line, riding the tram and having to listen to the annoying spiels over and over again in a foreign language, is it really worth it for the 10 minutes you save?

Map really??? Isn't there these new fangled electronic device that tell you exactly where to go?? and I know in all my years going to WDW, I have seen at least one or two nice purple signs providing direction to any location in WDW.

As far as hearing speils in different languages... it is just a warm up for the rest of you day anyway!

And to answer your last question.... YES!

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.

A CAA/AAA Diamond Parking Pass gets you a premium parking spot, right up at the front, alongside the handicapped spots.
It is for this reason alone that I book my trips through CAA/AAA.
At the end of a long, hot, tiring day, I am reluctant to share the close confines of the Disney buses with the over-tired and under-deodorized.

We always drive to the parks. With three little ones, it is definitely easier to just hop in our car and go as opposed to waiting for a bus, trying to manage the three little ones, a coach and anything else we might be carrying. Once they get older we will probably try the buses but for now it's easier to drive for us.

I agree getting lost is at unlikely at best. We just bring our gps with us but rarely need it. It's mostly for the convenience that we use a car anyway, not really to save time(although it does that too).

We almost always drive to the parks, except when MK has morning EMH or we want to be there for rope drop. For those two circumstances we find it quicker/easier to take the bus.
