Driving from Tampa International Airport to Disney

Can anyone tell me what is up with this congestion? It is like that every morning in the same spot. Looking at the traffic cams in that area does not show any discernible road construction or any real reason for a slowdown. So what's up with that section?

Central FL locals and tourists every single day at that bottleneck
What causes the bottleneck though? 3 lanes to 2 lanes? It seems insane.

We have a section on my way home to Indiana from work in Louisville, KY every weekday that slows to a crawl for absolutely no reason. Around "hospital curve" it just slows from 65mph to a crazy 15mph (or a dead stop at times) and then for no reason at all it picks right back up and gets back to 65mph. ????

It’s no sense and if there is an accident or stalled vehicle blocking one lane , adds to the traffic jam magnified.

It has to be something new(ish) in the last few years. We always made that trip twice in a day going to and from Clearwater on each trip and I have never been stuck in traffic along that route before.

It's merging heavy traffic from the onramps. People in the right lane have to slow down to allow traffic in or dart into the middle lane, which slows that down too. Google will show that as a slowdown on that side of the highway even when the other 2 lanes are moving fast. Did you try zooming in more? If your not zoomed in so that both sides of the highway are shown, google will just show the slowdown for the whole highway in that section, instead of just one side that may be slow. Google's default seems to be to show the whole highway to be slow if your not zoomed in and to show one side as being slow even if its just one line of that side. I see this with google maps all the time. Also don't forget, its not real time. There can sometimes be a 10-15 minute lag.
