I was once interested in getting the Discovery Magic Package (now the Silver Pacakage) so I priced everything out.

It seems that your Magic Wishes (aka options) cost 75 per person per day. When you think about it, you are going to be spending those options mainly on food. So it doesn't seem to come out to any great savings unless you plan to eat until you burst (and even then you may have trouble spending 75 per person per day).

You are absolutely right. Especially the children I already know they will be sharing food as it is. The representative told me each person get 2 wishes per day. I could see maybe the Character Dining and dinner shows but I really can't see anything else. Unless my mother in law decides she wants to pamper herself. The rep also told me I can buy selected Disney items, however she didn't go into great detail about this. The only thing I can see me benefited from is the SPA treatment and dinner and I don't want to do that everyday. My mother in law is making the decision but I'm the one doing the research and I have to present all this information to my family on Saturday

So I appreciate any info that is given.

Good morning :) I leave on Sunday for my first trip, and just discovered this particular board!

I booked the Dream Maker+Silver package, for one reason... I like the security of knowing I can leave home with $20 in my pocket, and not starve ;) Luckily, that isn't the case, but anything is possible, and this way I know I can have a fairly worry-free vacation.

It might not be for everyone, and I know even I could have done it a lot cheaper, but....I intend to utilize a lot of the features, that I probably would have ordinarily passed over (or spent far too much on,lol). I am using the childcare (6 hours per day, at $8-12 per hour, plus a dinner...my kids' wish is suddenly worth a LOT more than $30!) one day, and hitting the spa, another (couple!)wish(es!) that is suddenly worth much more, etc. After going over menus, and making all my PS...well, I've already come out about $300 ahead :king:

This being the kiddies first time, I also wanted to take full advantage of the preferred viewing areas for fireworks, and parades. Not even there yet, and I'm already planning my next trip,hehe....at which point I probably wouldn't book the package. But, for our first time, where I don't want to be overwhelmed by how much I'm spending, well, it's a nice bit of security.

Also, I am amazed by what's included. Every time something new occurs to me, I wonder, "OMG! I wonder if that's excluded!". So I pick up the phone in a panic, ask my question, and have yet to find anything that was excluded. I called the spa, to ask which "selected" treatments were available, and which "preferred" treatments were 2 wishes. Well, I was given a list including everything except the full and half-day programs, and was also told...they were all 1 wish. Wow :)

We are doing the package with Silver option in May. We averaged out to $61 per person (after Disney Club Discount), and will be using it on food. For us, we will save at least $50 (4 nights) by trip end, so it was worth it. Tips are included with the wish, so you could say you tipped big in some causes, or very little depending on where you eat. Easily, a tour or two, or Cirque tickets could greatly benefit your wish options. It's also a nice convienence to not have to worry as much about money. But in your case, you may want to eat lighter and cheaper and will come out better not doing the option.

I've thought about booking packages as well, but for us it's a lot cheaper to go regularly. We don't have that much time to eat at sit-down restaurants every day and we plan on visiting other stuff in Orlando, so the Ultimate Hoppers would be just too expensive. But there are some pretty cool wishes, and maybe I'll do it some day if it's just me and Julia...

By the way, does anybody know if you can get that photo session at the resort, meaning could a regular Guest ask for it without being a Package Guest?

You are so right Rod. This is our first trip solely to WDW. Any other time the package and ultimate tickets would not work for us either. Since this was a spur of the moment decision, we are only going Disney and want to eat sit down restaurants. You need to preplan in order to save money. If you want fast food, do not add options.

Another thing that I didn't realize until it was mentioned (and suggested!) to me is that while it says 2 wishes per day/ per person, it is technically a "grand total" of wishes. The extremely helpful lady at Central Reservations gave me a super hint. She said many people will buy the kids meals, since they're so much cheaper, it's almost wasting a wish, and then use the "extra" wishes on adult meals. Sure, I'm still budgeting in plenty of money for food, shopping, etc., but my husband and I have effectually prepaid all of our food. I'd much rather have paid for all of this a few months ago, and know that all I'm really responsible for are a few kids' lunches, and snacks ;) The grand total was a little under $1000 more...but, after adding it all up, I can see that it would have been more than that if I were paying for it all out of pocket. I have 2 boys, 5 and 7, and not only do they eat, they eat well. My youngest hates McD's and that sort of stuff with a passion. There's no way he'd tolerate a week of fast food...and, honestly, neither would I, lol.
