Dragon's Tower - An Inverted EMV at Animal Kingdom.

Lets say that Beastly Kingdom gets built finally. Well, a dragon coaster may not be of the best interest because of IOA. However, earlier, I made a 20k attraction idea that used the EMV but was suspended.

The Show Building will appear as a large tower of both medievil design as well as some futuristic elements. A huge Cathedral like stucture will be at the base of the tower and that will look semi destroyed but still standing and feature beautiful stained glass windows and flying buttresses.

The Line will be nice and extensive and feature many catacombs, chambers, halls and other such things. It will be more detailed than Dueling dragons but it wont feature a rhyming skull. (sorry rhyming skull fans).

The Story will be different than the original concept. Guests will make a deal with a mysterious man who states that the nearby dragon has stolen a jewel of him that has great powers and could destroy the world if in the wrong hands. The Guests will agree to help.

Now, I have been planning a flying coaster dragon coaster for Beastly Kingdom to put on Imagineering for a while but I have decided that it may not be the best, then I thought of using a suspended EMV. The Ride vehicle itself will have passengers loading in 2 rows of 5. Passengers will sit as in an inverted coaster but with restraints that fit exactly to the passenger. There will also be knee and foot restraints.

As the ride begins, the car will move forward slowly as it starts to rise to verticle. The track soon reaches completly verticle and the cars move out to flying position (so passengers will be sitting normal right at this moment). Here, guests meet the dragon face to face and he asks you why you are here and then he says to either fight or leave. The car then shoots up where it goes outside until it reaches about 180 feet in the 199 foot tall tower. Here, the car levels inside the tower (with a stained glass ceiling), and now the guests are looking strait up and see the shadow of the dragon flying above.

The Car then heads down and dives a nearly verticle (probably 80 degrees but definitly not 90). 170 or so feet to the ground before leveling. The EMV keeps the car at a steady speed the whole time and reaches 60 mph at the bottom. The track hangs from the bottom of the flying buttresses and circles the cathedral style building (slowing down at a steady pace) until it finally enters.

Guests encoundter the dragon here a little more before speeding up and going through a speedy section (about 30 mph here) though many twists and turns much like the Mummy. The Track wraps around still statues of the dragon in the building to emulate a duel with the dragon. The Car then enters another room where it stops over a giant Omnimax screens. (I love using them). The car uses simulator technology while over this screen to continue the dual as guests face down onto the screen. It will appear as if you are flying 100s of miles per hour as you race the dragon across the sky. Hits and such will be emulated and this part will climax with a crash into one of the stained glass windows of the Cathedral. (using the window breaking effect of Alien Encounter).

Here, the train moves forward to a giant treasure room in the tower. Here guests find out that they have been tricked and the dragon has only been guarding the treasure as to protect guests from the dangers of the jewel. The dragon warns the guests and a big blast comes from the jewel and everything goes black, the car then feels as if it were falling until, the dragon grabs hold and brings the guest to safety. (that will be very hard to do but can be done, there will actually be no dragon here but it will appear is if and the dragon's tallons will decend on to the car but have actually been on the car the whole time hidden).

The dragon brings the guests to another room where he explains the plot and flies off. Guests then go into the next room and unload.

A plot twist on a ride might be pretty hard to do as with having guests know what is happening the whole time. But it will be interesting with the steriotypical view of dragons being evil but later discovering that the dragon is actually good.

The good dragon idea isn't unusual, at least not for Asian dragons, which were believed to bring good fortune and help people. But it is unusual for a european dragon and that's what I really like about your idea.
