Anyone stay at the Double Tree at Sea World lately? Adults only trip coming up and couldn't beat the price (plus I earn Hilton points :) ). It says it has been recently renovated. Thoughts? I'm really nervous about staying off property- but since it's just me and DH it will be more of an "Orlando" trip anyway.

I have been looking at hotels outside Disney too, I haven't stayed at any so can't help you much, but the reviews on tripadvisor for DoubleTrees seemed good :)

we got a rate of $54/night , so I'm not expecting much! Plus wee get Quick Queue at Sea World, so I guess it pays for itself!

When we are only doing a weekend trip and don't need EMH's, we stay at the Doubletree Suites on Hotel Blvd. across from DTD. We really like the big rooms. We like having the separate living/kitchen area with an extra tv in case one wants to stay up while the others are ready to sleep. I think all Doubletrees are suites, but not sure.
You do have to pay to park at the HB one.

This one doesn't have suites, just a mini fridge/microwave. Parking is $14, still can't beat the price!

Just got back- the Double Tree was very nice, room was BIG, staff was accommodating and friendly, housekeeping was quick and thorough, property lush and expansive, BUT we probably will not stay there again. There was just something about it that DH and I agreed wasn't for us- it seemed to lack "personality". Felt like we were staying in a large appt complex rather than a "vacation resort". Although it is considered a "Sea World Resort", we drove to the parks due to the proximity. Cab fare to Uni was $15-20 each way depending on traffic. Seriously, if it is stay home and save more money vs go to the parks and stay there, I would rather stay and save  Very glad we tried it out, but I'm sticking with Hard Rock! (Oh and did I mention we shelled out nearly $200 for unlimited express pass for one park ONE day!)
