Dooney Bourke Bag...

Forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this question/request for assistance. My 9 year wedding anniversary is coming up in less than two months and we will be visiting the "World" during our anniversary. I have made reservations for the Yachtsman Steakhouse for just my wife and I and the kids will be staying at the one of the kids clubs during dinner. Anyway, I am looking at purchasing a Disney Dooney & Bourke bag for my wife but she is very particular about her purses; she wants them to be functional and have inside pockets. This is the purse I am looking at

Do any of the ladies happen to have this bag and if so do you have any pictures or information concerning the inside of the purse? Any help would be greatly appreciated is making this anniversary a memorable one. Thanks.

That bag is HUGE. I like big purses and I have the one that is a step down, size-wise, from that one. It's the size of all the Dooney East/West Shopper purses. Does she like huge bags? The one you're getting is bigger than the East/West Shoppers. It's big!

It will certainly have a zippered pocket and probably a phone one, too. The one I have that is smaller has both of those.

Hang on to your receipt! If it doesn't meet her qualifications, she can always return it.

(You're a good husband. :))

I don't have that one but a friend does and it's huge...she thinks it's too big. If your wife likes big purses it's probably a safe bet, but it doesn't have many pockets - one cell phone and one zipper. I have the medium sketch, which is more of a purse size and less like a bigger tote bag.

My biggest piece of advice is to buy it in person for two reasons:

1. You can take advantage of a possible discount. I'm not sure if this applies to D&B anymore but in the past you could get an AP, DVC or Disney Visa discount at World of Disney, Mouse Gear, etc. they very rarely go on sale on DisneyStore.com and when they do it's only 10% off.

2. You can choose your bag "placement." The pattern varies from bag to bag and what you buy online is what you get. If you buy in the store they'll bring you 3-4 bags to choose from. So say your wife is a big Tink fan...you could choose the bag with Tink prominently in the center rather than the one with the Mickey balloons in the center or whatever. I remember reading a review online where someone expected Mickey front and center, didn't get it, and was seriously disappointed. It's an expensive bag, as you know...better for you to pick it out and know it's just what she wants.

Really nice gift idea! I seriously get compliments on mine a lot...she'll love it. :)

I agree with the idea of buying in person to get the design you prefer. Each bag is different and you don't know what you'll get if you order it.

Thanks for the information. My wife does like bigger purses, for the life of me I don't know why. She has never had a Dooney & Bourke before so this is something new and I have no way of comparing it otherwise. I'm starting to think it might be better to purchase it at while we are at the parks. I'll probably just give her a small gift box with a picture of the purse at dinner stating that she can pick it out herself while we are there. It might be a safer bet.

By the way thanks for the compliment, I do try.

After reading your advice I think I am going to wait till we get there to buy it for her. I had no idea that they could do the purse in four different patterns. I was going to buy it online and try and take advantage of the 10% off promotion but I also have the Disney Visa so I could just do it at the parks and get the same promotion.

Aside from the World of Disney and Mouse Gears do you know where else they sell the bags at the parks?

I also agree, I am calling an audible and will plan on letting her pick one out when we are there at the end of September/beginning of October.

Not sure about Animal Kingdom. I know for sure that they do sell them in Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios but am not sure of the store names. The Magic Kingdom store is in Main Street on the right-hand side, it's the one where they also sell crystal figurines - Uptown Jewelers I think? I completely forget which store it is in Hollywood Studios but definitely one of them on Sunset Boulevard. Tren-D in Downtown Disney also has a good selection (so you could head to Downtown Disney and look at both Tren-D AND World of Disney's selections before deciding) and there's also a small selection at one of the stores in the Grand Floridian.

Here's an example of how the patterns can be different...

Top bag - no Tink. Bottom bag - has a pretty good Tink. But then if it were me I wouldn't like either because I'd prefer one with a full Minnie on it...she's in the top bag but is almost completely covered, where she's not on the bottom one at all. So that's what I meant by "placement" of the pattern...it seems silly but when it comes to a pretty expensive bag you want to make sure it's what you (your wife) wants. :)

Good luck, and I hope you get a discount!!

That's funny, my wife is not a big Tink fan either. She would much rather see Minnie Mouse. You guys would get along well. :)

Definitely. I recently re-watched Peter Pan and I'm pretty anti-Tink...so not likable! o_O

A word of warning on the D&B bags - they are addicting! (I have 3!)

I have 13 DD&B bags of various sizes. Most of the larger purses (versus the wristlets for example) have plenty of pockets. the HM bag I bought yesterday is a large bag like the one you are looking at and has 4 pockets on the inside plus the key holder cord. the OOAK (one of a kind) bag that I bought at the tunk show last May has even more pockets (and a zipper pouch in the middle).

WOD and Tren D at DTD carry the bags, WOD has the largest selection on property, since it's the largest store.
Keystone clothiers at DHS has them (this is where I got the HM bag yesterday). Summer Lace I believe is the store at the GF that sells them. Uptown jewelers at MK on Main Street sells them. Mouse Gear at EPCOT is the only other place I can think of. Good luck and congrats!
