Don't hate me but......

I got a 40% off Universal "Pin Code" for the onsite hotels, and I cancelled our WDW vacation and am booking one of those..... Don't get me wrong, I love WDW, but we need a change, and I'm just sick of all this FP+ crap and having to book EVERYTHING so far out. I realize that UNI is going in the same direction, but they aren't there yet, so I still have some time to be a bit spontaneous. We will wait till the dust settles on all the changes at WDW, and visit next year or the year after.

In seriousness, you think Universal is going the same direction? No. They see MyMagic+ and are sprinting in the opposite direction.

I don't blame you for wanting a break while this MM+ crap is sorted out. Get the hell out of Dodge.

I love Uni's resorts and their transportation along with the perks for onsight guests. What resort will you be staying at!

I just figured with the "pin codes" and the meal plans now, it was just a matter of time before we had to book everything in advance.....I'd rather that you are correct.

Trying to decide between Hard Rock which is a little cheaper and Portofino. Any suggestions would be nice..
I LOVE Portofino Bay. It is a true deluxe resort. But Cabana Bay looks like a cool place. While it doesn't have Express Pass, it does have early entry. And if you have several days, you really don't need Express Pass.

I strongly dislike you......for getting a uni pin code and not me. How do you get those? I've never stayed on site cause it's too rich for my wallet. I'm thinking of staying at the value next year or this fall but then I remember I can stay across the street for half the cost and get free breakfast.

How do you get a pin code and for what dates is it valid?

I love WDW, I really have no desire to go to Universal for days, one day maybe, but not days. I do really dislike that now it feels as if I will be missing out on rides IF I choose to not pre-plan my future trips to WDW. I used to plan, plan, plan but at the request of my family I stopped planning each minute of each day and our vacations became a relaxed, slower pace, fly by the seat of our pants kind of vacation. I LOVE going and not knowing what the day will hold. Now, IF I don't plan I will miss out or have a much different vacation, less rides, less shows, more people watching. I am really torn, pre-plan or not? I am worried this will take the fun out of our trips.

I got one too but the dates won't work for us. We already have airfare so the dates are not negotiable. I really would have pressed to switch to Uni if they did. This FP+ crap is really starting to irritate us. We go on vacation to relax and have fun. Right now I feel like I'm scheduling major surgery and planning for the worst. I hope we can relax at some point.

It's just the theming, but I really do not care for HRH. It's nice and clean and not a bad place, I just don't care for it. PBH, on the other hand, is wonderful. Nice, pretty, large rooms. You could fit almost an entire Disney Value room in the bathroom of PBH. And it has a real hair dryer, not one of those crappy on-the-wall, motel-type things Disney has.

The service is real hotel-type service and blows Disney away. Disney does not even attempt to be that good.

It's so pretty there. Take some time to wander around one day - you won't be sorry. Very romantic at night, too.

They have one small, quiet pool. Unlike Disney, they enforce the quiet thing. No children! It's the smallest of the pools there, but you can spend a peaceful afternoon lying in the sun and taking a short dip to cool off. So wonderful. There are plenty of pools for kids. You can even go to another hotel, if you want...why anyone ever wants to do that, I don't know, but you can at Uni.

Entertainment is nice. That balcony singing thing is very cool. Everyone love-love-loves Bice. I prefer Mama Della's, but even that is not my favorite. Much rare go to Pastamore!

Transportation to the parks is much, much faster than driving. If you bring a car, you won't touch it unless you're going offsite. It's a lovely boat ride, too.

And you get the FOTL thing. So you can RELAX on your vacation. Sleep in. No rushing. Just wander around, from thing to thing, riding what you want, when you want, without a long wait. No ride appointments to keep. No "Do we have time for X before we keep our appointment for Y?" No, "Should we go there to ride X or is there something over here we could do so we don't have to hurry across the park to keep that appointment?" No cell phones required. No wristbands required. ;) :)

It's a very relaxing and fun way to vacation.

I was very surprised to get the code in my email. I just signed up to receive email specials, etc from Uni about a month ago, and all of a sudden, the discount appeared. When I checked yesterday on the actual price, I was told that it would be 155.00 per night for the Hard Rock. If that is 40% off, I guess I never checked into what full price was.....

Thank you for the info. It sounds wonderful. I will be calling the Portofino today to check and see if it is available when we want to go.

About a month ago, I went to the UNI site and checked into dates for the new Cabana Bay and signed up for email offers, etc. I didn't book anything then, but I got these offers the other day. Still trying to get our dates to fit, but am hopeful. We need to do something different this year.
