Dolphin Swim vs. Dolphin Encounter

What exactly is the difference between the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Swim and the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter?

Is it that one (the Encounter) is in a 4' pool, and the other is a full swim?

Do they provide life jackets / flotation vest for the swim.

The Encounter info makes a point of stating "NOTE: This is not a swim with the dolphins excursion"

Ny kids will be happy if they get in the water with dolphins and can touch/feed them. In fact, they would be better off in a 4' pool so they could stand as opposed to tread water.

DW and I did the Dolphins in Depth tour at The Living Seas(I know it Nemo now) 2 years ago. We loved it. Heres what we did.
Took a 2 hour class to learn about the Dolphins and how they trained them
Put on wet suits and went to the top of the tank.
Got in the water. it was only ablut 3 to 4 feet where we were at.
We met the dolphins and got to pet them and give them some commands
Took a picture with them.
Last (This is the coolest part to me) we got to take showers in the Living Seas. they were just a few doors from the big tube in the middle of the bottom floor.

Note: we never actually swam with the Dolphins. I think you have to go to seaworld for that.

Thanks for the response, but the items I am talking about are shore exursions on the Disney cruises in Nassau, not tours at WDW.

Thanks

OK, a little more research and it seems the following is the difference.

Encounter - In about 4' of water, no flotation vests, the dolphins come around and "kiss" you, you can hug them, and take your picture. (Other people do, not the dolphins, if they could train a dolphin to take your picture that would be quite a trick)

Swim - In deeper water, with flotation vests. Swim with dolphins, kiss them, hug them, and then they let you do a "foot push" across the lagoon - basicly stand on the dolphin while it pushes you across the lagoon.

Now here is the kicker, for me and my two kids, the Swim is $597 and the Encounter is $360

Is a dolphin shoving you in the feet worth $237 ?

I know that's a rhetorical question but....

This coming from a guy who's willing to spend 360 dollars to kiss a fish.

Trust me. If it was just me, I would be spending $30 to lay on the beach with a couple of drinks :) Or maybe some of the more "physical" things (biking, hiking, sea kayaking).

The thing is, the kids are too young to do the more "active" things - they need a parent with each kid, and there are two of them an one of me, so until my oldest hits 16 and can do this stuff solo, we are stuck kissing fish :)

Well, that and my kids have wanted to kiss fish for the last 3 or 4 years.

I went to the Atlantis last year and did the blue lagoon dolphin encounter. You stand on a platform in about 4 feet of water and the trainer has the dolphin do various behaviors. The dolphin then goes down the line a takes a kissing picture with everyone. The pictures are really expensive on top of what I already paid to do this, but totally worht it IMO. I enjoyed it alot. We walked down to a mariana which was about 5 min from the harborside resort portion of the Atlantis and the took a small boat to Blue Lagoon island which was included in my price. It was a nice ride and I got some good off shore pics of atlantis from the boat. The captain told us that blue lagoon island is where they filmed the 1995 Flipper movie.

Side note: Go to the Atlantis resort if you can! This is the only other place besides WDW that I plot year after year to return to. It is soooooo nice there!!! If you like aquariums the Dig is a must see!!!!
