I"ve been going to WDW for years, and on these boards for a long while. I don't know anyone in management and have only met a couple of former employees. Basically I am pretty unaware of the business side of operations, and what their priorities are. I love the parks, but over the years I have been irked a number of times about what I perceive as being an overwhelming need for secrecy. I understand that they need to control the spin on bad things, and keep long term business plans away from competitors to delay their counter moves, but it feels like they often err somewhere beyond that. Their secrecy often reaches levels where it can frustrate guests, especially the repeat customer or "fan base". I can name several examples. The Yeti is probably the best example, why not tell the fan base in detail what the technical issue is and their options/ time frame to correct it? Other actions they take without a full explanation are tiresome. Why not talk about in detail what led to the shutdown of PI for instance instead of letting the internet boards speculate ad nauseum? Or the reason for their decision not to run monorails to the end of EMH? I don't want to start a thread about each of these subjects. Instead I would like someone with insider knowledge to talk about the TDO spin machine or lack thereof, and why they seem to miss the mark so often when doing the PR on these kinds of things.
