Does this bother you about RnRC?

There is another thread going right now on who would replace Aerosmith when and if that day ever comes.

This got me thinking:

-Sunset Blvd. is themed in a retro style, 1935-1945 give or take a few years either way.
-The cars are of that era
-The eviction notice on the ToT is 10/31/39
-The concession stands near the entrance to ToT and RnRC are themed to that era
-The architecture
-Street Players
-CM Costumes
All 30s/40s

Then there’s RnRC.
The theme upon entering the building is close, but:
-The lobby is 50s
-Progressing to 60s right before you enter the studio
-Then you have current day with Aerosmith in the studio
Yet
The ride vehicle is themed back in a 50s style!

Think about it, Aerosmith takes off in a normal stretch limo, but your “Super Stretch Limo” is back to the 50s theme from when you entered the building. The “Limo” is a blue 57 Chevy with fins (check out the car on the guitar neck at the entrance.)

Now I understand that to keep it in the 40s is tough (not that there wasn’t great Jazz, but it’s not the Bee-Bop Coaster staring Duke Ellington)

A 50s theme (to keep close to the rest of the street and still tie in with the building and the ride vehicle) lets them do Elvis, Buddy Holly, or any mix of 50s rockers, (think Rod Serling in ToT technology.)
The story line could stay the same, trying to get to the Hollywood Bowl to see Elvis live (not that he isn’t still alive and well in Nebraska, working at the local DQ ;-)

Does anyone else think the theme for RnRC is a bit out of place with the rest of Sunset Blvd?

Here is the official Disney back story... (although not in their exact words) :)

G-Force records, a fictional record company that was started in the 1930s. G-Force was know for attracting the music elite
and became a growing force in the industry. Things however took a turn for the worse on Halloween 1939. While throwing a party at the neighboring Hollywood Tower Hotel (Tower of Terror), a strange incident occurred and five hotel guests disappeared. The hotel was abandoned and G-Force fell on hard times. When
the Hollywood Tower Hotel reopened, G-Force too began to reemerge and rebuilt the existing studio, adding a giant stratocaster as it's icon. Today at G-Force many of the top recording stars can be found using the state of the art facilities.

You know, it really doesn't bother me at all, like NowInc said, you are overanalyzing this thing way too much. It is perfect, yet someone always has to have a problem. Well guess what, they have attracted the masses, how many Elvis fans are actually left? I'd really hate it if they did it with Elvis. Blue suede shoes hitting 5 G's? Don't go well together!!!

I think you are overanalyzing the whole thing too and wdwmagic post i have heard of before so i think that it is in the right place.

So,
would a 1970s style building on Main St. be cool?

If it had a story to back it up...such as RnR does...yep...

The main difference being that you dont really SEE the RnR building when looking down sunset...so theme wise its mostly "off to the side"...

fngoofy, mixed theming is what Disney is best at.

I mean how often do you see pirates riding magic carpets?? While the two themes of pirates and Arabian bazars are two very diferent themes they still co-exist and fit the theme of adventure.

The same goes for RnRC...it fits the over all the theme and the story is there to back it up. I think you were just looking for something to criticize.

And yes I'm sure Disney could successfully work a 70's building onto Mainstreet...I mean there is after all a fairytale castle at the end of it!!

Mixed themes!!??? Are you CRAZY!! It is totally possible to have Splash mountain next to Thunder mountain..I mean..we always see desert mines next to Swamp lands....right?
