Does the Guitar Hero 2 guitar work on Guitar Hero 3?

I was just wondering this because today, I recieved GH3 as a present for X360. I have the wired controller from Guitar Hero 2 and I'm just wondering if it will work on this game. Thanks, and Merry Christmas! :xmas:

From everything i read it will and will work with Rock Band... but only on the 360... PS3 version doesn't...
