Does Publix sell disposable ponchos?

We leave for the world in a couple of days and spent the better part of today running around looking for the cheap (<$2.00) ponchos and got absolutely nowhere. We checked Walmart, Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and CVS...and managed to net exactly one:mad:.

We use a car service on arrival at MCO which includes one courtesy stop inbound to the resort and we usually stop at Publix for some beer, wine, sunscreen, water and other sundries we forgot. So...does anyone know if they also have the ponchos there or should I continue our mad search before leaving rather than paying the ridiculous prices that the mouse commands for them in the parks.

I don't see why not! Also if you are near by a Dollar Tree you can find 2 for a $1 plus Walmart's around the "World" and Orlando in general know they are a necessity so you may want to check there.

Well you could always take a short cab drive over to the Crossroads and stop in Goodings to pick some up. They are not the cheapest grocery store but I am betting they will be cheaper than the Mouse's prices.

haha...yeah. I don't know what they are getting these days for them but I think the Mouse's ponchos were over six dollars last time we bought them before we learned our lesson and brought them from home. This is our first Sept trip (usually Oct or Nov visits) and it looks like good chance of Tstorms each day. Does not bother us in the least as it clears out the parks and in 20-30 minutes it's over and we head for the high wait time queues.

I don't know if you have them, but Hancock Fabrics and Big Lots both have the 1.99 ones. I always get the .88 ones at Wal Mart, but when I looked a couple of weeks ago, all they had were the thicker ones. Even those were reasonable. They were in the pocketbook area, not in sporting goods.

Just a thought that since the hurricane is hitting Mexico that maybe it would be worth it to get the "better" ponchos.

Not sure what the forecast is but we were there in June and it rained everyday and the cheap ponchos were worthless after 2 days. My kids had the disney ones from another trip and they lasted the whole time! It can be pretty miserable if you are wet!

Very true hence why we tend to purchase a couple each for the week. Though I have found an umbrella and a light rain coat works as well during the midday showers.

I would rather go with 12-15 throw aways than the better ones just because then you have to try to lug soaked panchos around the park the rest of the day. We actually already have some of those all ready to go but for good ole hit-n-run rain storms the cheapies are the way to go in our experience.

We hit the parks commando style and the less we have to lug along is less to slow us down.

I better start looking tomorrow. At least I have until Nov. to find them. We have four Wal Marts, so I'll try the others. I have clear rainsuits in case it's set-in rain. They actually keep you dry. They do get hot in the summer, but in Nov., it shouldn't be bad. They helped keep us warm and dry on our last trip during cold weather.

We also buy the cheap ponchos for the same reasons you mentioned. I used to get them at Wal-Mart, but for the last several months they haven't carried them. Now, I get them at Target.

The guy in sporting goods at Walmart said they recalled them a while ago and then never restocked them at all. My guess is some lawsuit over injury or some such nonsense.

Did you know if you buy your poncho's at Disney they are replaced for free for life? Any problems with them no matter how old they are they replace them. Just a thought if you go multiple trips.
