I mean that online the price is say 90 for this Saturday. Come Saturday if I go to the park do they ever lower the prices at the kisoks selling them inside say if they are not selling as well etc?

I doubt it, because if they did that people would take advantage of it and they would lose out on $$$

it's like a movie theater, you don't see them lowering the costs of the tickets because its week 4 and only 12 people showed up to see the film

True, but an airline will lower their ticket to ride....
Very different situations as there is a hard cost that can not be reduced to fly a plane from A to B. That cost is only paid for by the passengers on said flight. if a flight leaves light, it looses money.

While there is a hard cost to operate a theme park, it is typically covered by daily admission. Extras like Express pass are icing on the cake. US/IOA will not go into the red if they do not sell X number of express passes on a given day.

Keeping the price above a certain level also helps to increase and/or maintain room occupancy. If it becomes common knowledge that the day of price drops by a certain percentage on day of, that can become the go to option.

I was considering this option unitl I saw that it costs more than the tickets.
I even emailed universal thinking there was some sort of mistake.

they actually called me to tell me this... "if they were cheaper everyone would buy them and the express lines would be long an the regular lines wouln't."

not sure how there system works. Disney manages the crowd and gives you a window to return...at no additional charge.
How exactly does express pass work. that they would have to be concered with making that line too long???
do you just show up at any given time and skip to the front???

The express pass doesn't have a return time - you can rock up whenever you like and join the express queue. So having express passes really cheap could make the line longer than the regular line. I think there are two types of express passes - one that allows you to skip the regular queue once, the other allows you to do it an unlimited amount of times. Express passes can't be used on all rides though.

We ended up getting one night at Royal Pacific to get two days of express...even though we never checked in since we were slready booked for several nights at Cabana. This was a case of over thinking things as it was not necessary for the Express Pass for most rides especially if you don't mind riding single

That's exactly what I was considering since it would cost half as much for a room as for Express Passes. Did you actually check in but not stay, or did you simply not check in at all? How did you get the passes if you didn't check in? Don't they give them to you at check in?

There are kiosks in the lobby where you take a photo and it prints out the express pass. You have to insert your room key, I believe.

so hotel reservations come with express pass??

If you are staying at Hard Rock, Royal Pacific or Portifino they do. It is my understanding that they are not included at the new Cabana Bay.

Yes and the best kept secret is that the UNLIMITED Express Pass that you get can be used on both the check in and check out days.

So stay 1 night, get 2 days worth of line jumping.

Unbeatable value, especially when you factor in early entry as well.

Went in around 8 am. Got a room key(no assigned room yet) and got the passes. Never went back when the room was ready I liked Cabana too much!
