I am in college right now as a Psychology major. My main focus is Industrial/Organizational Psychology. I am very interested in learning more about the Human Resource department at Walt Disney World- in particular the major requirements of working in a full-time position. I did some investigating on the Disneyjobs site but I kept seeing internships and college program info. I know that I am not able to do the college program, due to my living situation...so I want to know what I need to do in college, how far I need to go...to have a chance?

Thanks for the information!:)

I got all excited when I read your post because I am a current graduate student studying I/O (best psych field ever). For most professional jobs at Disney, especially HR/Casting roles, they hire heavily from within. They want people who know the company inside-out. If they do hire from the outside, it tends to be people with a lot of experience in the HR field.

If you can't do the CP, you could always look into doing a Professional Internship with Disney. They offer some related to I/O, including professional recruitment, T&D, facilitation, etc. Mavy of them do, however, require that you be a CP alum to participate. I would suggest possibly trying to find either an HR undergrad internship or an HR assistant position somewhere near your school. Also if you haven't think about joining some professional organizations, such as SIOP, SHRM, or ASTD. They always look good on a resume.

Good luck - where do you go to school?

Thanks so much for the information.

Sadly, that was what I was afraid of... it really does seem like you have to be an alum of the CP to be a part of anything. Maybe if I keep going and actually obtain a PhD in psychology- this would work without being in the CP. I love I/O psychology. It is so much fun.

Oh, and I am at North Carolina State University. :-)

Thanks again!
