Does anyone still buy DVDs consistently? Do you have a large library or just a few you really like? Do you watch them regularly or just rely on what's on the tube? Will you change your viewing habits in the future because of the march of technology?
Saw a post in another thread about how people's attitudes may have changed about recorded media, streaming, and so on. Not to mention that anything made by a service like Netflix or Apple is producing discs for purchase.
A bunch of what I have revolves around items you just can't watch anymore. Old movies especially but select series also (B5, S:AAB, and some others) that aren't going to be re-runs anytime soon. While watching the big N this week, go to thinking about how a majority of their content will disappear at some point and lost to history. How will you show your grandkids what you used to watch as a kid.
Just thinking about this on a cold and wet day and I'm feeling sad. I really can't see an upside to streaming becoming the large majority of consumer's viewing capability. Considering what it means for quantity and quality of TV entertainment, I don't think I'm gonna be happy in the long run.
