Does anyone have any insight as to why the parks will be so crowded week of June2-8?

So many times I've heard try going to WDW the 1st week in June since schools might still be in session. I booked it, and we're going, but all of the crowd calendar websites are calling for 9 out of 10 crowd levels! I know that Gay Days is part of that week, but is there anything else going on that I'm missing? Thanks.

It is the start of the summer season. Attendance is up due to a better economy and the crowd calendars have been adjusted to reflect this new reality. There is no "slow" time to go anymore, especially when schools are out. :(

Thanks everyone. I know my cousin who sells Scentsy will be there for their annual "reward" trip during that week too ( staying at the Yacht Club). Oh well... we'll deal with it. ;)

I did 4th June - 18th June 2014 (from the UK) and it got progressively busier as the trip went on.

That being said, it was do-able with Fastpass+ and a sensible touring plan.

Provided you use ropedrop and are willing to head to walk on attractions such as Hall of Presidents, Riverboat, CoP, People Mover, Philharmagic etc in the busiest part of the day you can make it work.

I would do June again if I had to, I think you just need to be more aware of the crowds than if you go at a different time.

School schedules. My niece from Kansas City got out May 20th, my granddaughter 2 1/2 hrs north of wdw doesn't get out until June 9th. I think a lot of people are already out and sometimes people pull their kids instead of going the last week of school because it's usually all "fun days" at that point anyway while teachers get grades in (until high school of course).
