I am definitely in need of a brilliant idea. Hubby and I are heading to WDW at the end of the month with his mom and step-dad who will be celebrating their 20th anniversary. We have to do something fabulous (yet affordable) for them in honor of their anniversary, but are stuck for ideas. My relationship with them, as well as the rest of his family, is shaky at best so I have to come up with something amazing to wow them. Has anyone done anything along these lines?

Fortunately, they have never been to Disney before so it leaves things pretty wide open. We thought of one of the Illuminations cruises, but they are a little more $$$ than we were hoping to spend. Does anyone know if there are any services that we could have something delivered to their room (staying on property)? I know you can do this with the cruiseline, but what about in the resorts? Any other brilliant ideas?

Much appreciation to everyone who can help!!!

For my brother's 40th birthday this past summer, I arranged a scavenger hunt for him using Gifts Of A Lifetime. Jane is a brilliant party/event planner. They also do personal shopping. I had her purchase for us "Guest of Honor" badges which were waiting for us when we checked in.

For my cousins college graduation, we also used them. They arranged an event they called her "graduation" where she received her DDM degree, "Doctor of Disney Magic". Check out their website for ideas.

You can have flowers or something along those lines sent to their room thru the WDW florist.

You can have it waiting in their room upon check in.
We have done this a few times for family and friends.
What kind of foods do they like...set up a nice meal in EPCOT or one of the resorts. Make sure the CMs know its their anniversary.
Your relationship is shakey? Don't try to overdue it. Just be yourself, relax and enjoy.
Don't forget to take a ton of pics and then make them up their own scrapbook or collage.
Good Luck.

Shakey relationship with the In-Laws, huh? I know the feeling all too well. I've come to discover that I will no longer attempt to "over-do"anything in hopes of trying to win them over. I can't stand not being myself for anyone else.

I went on our last WDW trip with them last month and had a good time without kissing up to them  . But I did do this: On almost every opportunity, I offered to take pics both stills and video and when we returned home, I made them an album and copied the videos complete with editing. They were very grateful. So my advice to you is whatever you do, do it either near the end of the trip or something after the trip so that it remains fresh in their memories. :D

Good Luck!

It may be too pricey, but you may want to call Disney Dining and see if you can get the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert's. It's a private table in the kitchen where the chef prepares and serves you dinner personally. The entrees aren't on the menu and you get a personalized menu at the end of the night with what the chef prepared you. Just an idea.

Keep it simple!

Book PS at the California Grill for a nice Anniversary Dinner for 2.
It will be a great treat for them to see WISHES from up there during or after dinner.

Just give the in-laws your room key to pay for it. Also, be sure to tell them when you call for reservations that it's for a 20th Anniversary and you would like a table by the window fopr them.
They will LOVE it.....AND you!

For our second anniversary, my DW arranged for Gifts of a Lifetime to surprise me with a scavenger hunt that led to a vows renewal. It was quite fun and a complete surprise. It also worked out perfectly in that when the "you may kiss your wife" part was said, a show on the Cinderella Castle stage started with the bells ringing. Perfect. :)

I think some more info on your in-laws would probably be a great help. My in-laws are a bit more on the conservative side, grew up more country-ish, etc...so for their first trip and anniversary we sent them to the Hoop-De-Do Revue and they loved it. We had to drag them out of the place so the staff could clean up for the next show.

We also took them up for dinner and the fireworks one night at the California Grill. While they loved the fireworks I thought my mother-in-law was going to beat me when she saw the prices we were paying for their dinner.
