Probably just taken to central shops for refurbishment. They do this a lot with lamp posts too. In the UK right now it seems they’re making their way down the street refurbishing them all, every few days one disappears and is replaced with a little brown box.

We always enjoy taking a photo under the clock on our way out of the MK at the end of the night. Hopefully, some day we'll see these hours of the day/morning again!
