I miss the original music as well. To me, it did a good job of linking the turn-of-the-century seaside pier heyday to another iconic beach period for California. It was a neat concept, and the arrangements brought new life to the classic songs. I can certainly understand why some people may have viewed it as cheesy, but I think it was one of the most clever things in the original DCA. A lot of things tried to be clever and failed, but the Paradise Pier music really worked for me
The new music is just another generic loop that doesn't really evoke any particular memories for me. Unlike some of the more distinctive music loops out there, like Main Street or Frontierland, the new music doesn't do much to reflect a particular era or location. What does a seaside pier sound like, if not a calliope? In general, I think Paradise Pier got the most half-baked work of the DCA redo; I don't even know what era it's supposed to be set in these days.
The old Sunshine Plaza music loop, though...good riddance!
