Do you remember CIRIKLI ???

Was going thru one of my videos I shot a few years back and noticed this on tape. Wish they still had it as it was incredibley unique and well done.

I know they moved over to Animal Kingdom when it first opened, but I guess they were gone shortly after that<shrug>

Were those the Stilt birds? I remember seeing them at EPCOT and then at AK when it opened. They were pretty good. I always enjoyed seeing them.

Yes they were the stilt birds, and the riders would wear all sorts of makeup and stuff. I loved it when they would pick up ice with the birds mouth and throw it at people. I can't imagine how hard it was to learn moving that puppt around, while walking around on stilts

I remember in Epcot, in ´99, there were threee guys who looked like butterflies walking around WSC on stilts with a guy pushing some weird music machine. He had a costume that was like a cape with numbers, time and music notes or something like that... I don´t thin they even had a name!

I saw the Ciriklit in 1996 and (I think) 1997. They walked back and forth between Japan and China, if I'm not mistaken. I have a couple of pictures of them, but unfortunately, my scanner is dead and I'm not sure when I'll be able to replace it. I think they were gone before 1999, Maria.

No these were not the butterfly people. I don't remember them actually.

These were people painted in a Asian type motiff on stilts looking as if they were riding a bird, which was hollow, if that helps jog your memory. I'll try to find a few pictures

I found a picture of the ones I was talking about. They are called "The Aviators", and were three butterfly guys (one was a girl) and the "astronomer".
I found them listed in Steve Soares´ website under the Archive files.

I was snowed in today and started going through my Disney videos. I currently have over 5,000 hours. I've been doing Disney videos since
1987.
I found videos of both Cirikli and The Aviaters. I have two full Cirikli performances. One during the day and one at night.
The Cirikli (bird horsemen) would walk around world showcase and try
to remove hats or peck on people's heads. I found the website of their
agents. They now book corporate shows and festivals.
I, too, miss them.:wave:
