i was wondering if anyone here uses an SLR camera. i have one but i want to get a digital on, around $300 and 2 or 3 megapixel one. are digital cameras good. i dont really care about printing all the picture's but i want to go to disney and take 100's of picture's film is way to expensive to do that. but a digital camera lets you print only the ones you want, and you can fix them. just wondering what your opinions are.

I have a Canon Powershot S20 I love it. I bought as an extra the IBM microdrive flash card. On the Canon's lowest resolution setting and with the IBM microdrive I can shot about 950+ pics before running out of flash space. I need to buy an extra battery for it though. Digital I find is allot nice than traditional film

I just brought the Olympus c204z and absolutely love it. Its a 2 meg pixel camera and good for what I want to do. I got rechagreable batteries and have no problem

I have the DC4800 and at the price they want for it today, it's a real bargain. The only down side to this camera is something that I've found plagues most digital cameras (actually almost all compact cameras) and that is with the flash being so close to the lens, you have a problem with red eye... They offer a redeye reduction mode with consists of the flash going off twice - once before the shot and then again right after which fixes the red eye but confuses the person in the picture. You end up with a lot of closed eyes and people looking the wrong way unless you warn them that it's going to flash twice before you take the picture because otherwise they tend to move after the first flash... It's a common fix for a common problem. I suggest you go get yourself an external flash if you are serious about it. I have a nice Vivitar flash that works great with the camera and allows you to have a flash when you use the burst mode which I love because you can take several pictures of people and objects one right after the other and then choose your best pics later - great for action shots... Be careful though, because not all external flashes offer this nifty little feature. All in all I've been very happy with my camera and the only thing that has got me to thinking about a new one is a higher mega pixel. If you look around in the photo section for threads I started, all of those pictures were taken with this camera (and were reduced a lot in quality and size to fit on the forum). It really is a great serious hobbyist/semi-pro camera that can be as easy (point and shoot) or as complicated (ISO and aperture settings) as most will ever need it to be. :)

Digicams are great (coolpix here!) but for the most part, I use a Canon Rebel 35mm and a negative scanner. It costs more, but it's almost impossible to beat 35mm for picture quality.

MK What type of scanner do you have?

for negatives? I don't own one. Too expensive. I just go to UCF and use their graphics lab. They have a few Polaroid scanners that I use
