Do on-site hotel guests really get to by-pass the lines?

We'll be in WDW this fall but are taking a trip to Universal next summer. Somewhere in the brochures I read that on-site hotel guests (we'll be staying at the Hard Rock) get to bypass the lines for attractions ... true? Or not true?

And how many hotel are on the property anyway?

My DH thinks that if it's true, we'll be getting an awful lot of dirty looks. ;)

This is what it is...

Universal has their own version of Fast Pass too. Anyone can use it, you walk up to a station and get a pass to come back later.

But, if you stay at a hotel you can just show your room key at the "Fastpass" entrance to the rides and get on right away. No waiting to come back, and you can do it as many times as you want.

There are 3 hotels now so a lot of people are using it, I doubt you will get many looks.
