Do Disney Cocktails Pack a Punch?

My guess is no, because it's amazing how weak restaurants and some bars make their drinks outside WDW. But just wondering, seeing how a lot of the drinks listed in WDW menus use more than one kind of alcoholic ingredient, are the mixed drinks at WDW of decent strength? I suppose if not the thing to do would be to order a martini when a full bar is available.

Which mixed drinks are you looking at ? The specialty drinks or a mixed drink in genera? Seems like the specialty drinks are watered down to me either one shot with a bunch of mixers or several low alcohol volume beverages at 1/4 shot a piece. As far as mixed drinks in the end it all depends on who is pouring them. I have had a few that definitely tasted watered down others that were a bit more potent.

I guess it does depend on what you get, but I have never been disappointed with any cocktail at WDW. I tend to go for the margaritas. I usually have only two at a time. Usually. On those occasions where I have had three, they have made me quite tipsy. Those are the times I am especially thankful for Disney transportation.

From MY experience (maybe TOO much experience), they are actually usually STRONG. ESPECIALLY those found around world showcase.

I would agree with that....:p

I think it depends on the drink. I admit that I normally drink beer around the world showcase, but I do like a margarita in Mexico, and they are perfectly strong enough for me, but the Grey Goose slush I had in France was very weak and for the size and the price I will never bother to have another one.

As others have said it really depends on the bartender. I've gotten some very very strong drinks, especially in WS and when we just sat at some bars in restaurants around property. I have noticed that the weaker drinks usually are served with dinner, thats why I started getting wine with dinner instead. I'm not going to lie, I've gotten tipsy a few times in Disney and I was drunk once, granted that time was my 21st birthday and I drank around the world, drank at dinner, drank at DTD and then finished off the night at the pool bar. I know some people complain about the F&W festival and people being drunk, however A not everyone who drinks gets drunk, and B not everyone that gets drunk is annoying/obnoxious/rude/falling down.

I would say that, for the most part, unless you're ordering a mixer light cocktail (like a martini) or a fruit juice flavored rum drink (like the Back Scratcher), the pours are fair. Otherwise, they can be a little on the heavy side. And then there's the Singapore Sling they serve during the Food and Wine Festival, which is equally at home as a beverage or engine degreaser.

One Little Spark...
The margaritas at la cava used to knock me on my butt when they were made from scratch as ordered. Now that they are in a big jug- no such luck. Way better before.

That's interesting. I went it pretty close to closing last year and they made mine from scratch. I had just assumed they always did it that way. Maybe a reason to grab it towards the end of the day?

As with all bars it really is a matter of who is pouring them! I don't usually drink off the WDW Resort drink menu so my "usual" is always great no matter where I have ordered it. I can tell you that from experience some of the bars and lounges around property are better than others (are heavy handed) but I am a bit hesitant to list those so that the Mouse won't crack down on them.

I don't really drink. One time, I had two blue drinks with umbrellas in them at the Poly Luau, because I'd always wanted to have a blue drink with an umbrella in it and the waitress said one existed. :) Got the second because the first was so yummy. I don't remember the name of it, but I drank two and didn't feel anything at all, really.

I didn't really want to get drunk, anyway, so it was no disappointment. Tat is my extremely limited "Drinking at WDW" experience. :)

I'm sure if you want stronger drinks, they can add a little extra booze for a little extra charge!!

I WILL have a Lapu Lapu at the Polynesian. Oh yes, I WILL have one... To start, anyway.

I'm also going to grease the palms of the bartenders at the River Roost and Muddy Rivers and see what that gets me. Ok, so I'm a little excited at the prospect of 8 days with no driving other than a little motor boat!

I just noticed the menu for Muddy Rivers says two drinks per person. Is that everywhere, or is it because it's a poolside bar? Not that I would have more than that anyway. Probably.
