Thinking about renting a car as opposed to taking town car, but the $18 fee per day for parking would stop me from doing so. Do AP holders get free parking by any chance?

Do AP holders get free parking at resorts?

Preferred/Premier Passes come with free parking, if that's what you're asking. Power Pass does not. And you have to pay to park for the first visit after purchasing your AP.
EDIT: Oops. I just read the key word in the title: Resorts. I'm sure you already knew what i just said, haha. Maybe someone else can answer...

All three hotels charge the $18.00 and no AP discounts, hate the add ons,

The PLUS side is if you valet, for just a few bucks more, anything happens, they fix it. My battery died, they offered a taxi on them while they replaced my battery 
. But yeah- I REALLY hate parking fees and some places that have "resort fees" as well. Just roll it all up in an all inclusive amount per night already!

We never paid for parking when we had our ap's. We let them go in September. As long as you're staying in a Disney resort, I've never heard of a fee to park--only for valet parking. Maybe the dvc places charge. Never stayed in one of those. We never paid to park at the parks either. I know some things changed this year, maybe they took that away. Or maybe I don't understand the question.
