DLRP Photo Update 13-15Dec06!

Not too many people seem to do DLRP photo updates, so here is my first attempt at one. We spent two days there last week, staying in the Holiday Inn. We flew into Orly and got a hire car, while this worked out cheaper for us than the shuttle bus (which didn't run at 2100 when we landed) we did rather throw ourselves at the mercy of the Paris traffic, especially when we tried to get back to the airport!

Main Street looked pretty good all decorated for Christmas, it even snowed every so often!

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/sm.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/sm_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/naut.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/naut_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/buzz.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/buzz_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
Discoveryland's two busiest attractions on these quiet days were Space Mountain and Buzz Lightyear's Laser Blast, but the queue times were never greater than about 15mins on standby.

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/startours.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/startours_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/smallworld.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/smallworld_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/capnjack.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/capnjack_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
Three classic Disney rides, and it appears Cap'n Jack may be making appearances in Paris now too - but we never saw him.

More to come....

Part two of the Disneyland Park...

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/oldmill.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/oldmill_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/belle.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/belle_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
Belle's Christmas Market was in Fantasyland, with a good "vin chaud" (mulled wine) and other bits and pieces. I think this was the first time I've seen the Old Mill open too! Casey Jr and the Storybook ride (Pays de Contes de la Fetes?) was closed however.

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/castleglobe.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/castleglobe_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/dragon.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/dragon_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/castlenight.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/castlenight_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
The DLRP Castle I think is by far the best of the lot (not seen the Far Eastern ones though), and has a Dragon underneath. The Central Plaza had four snow globes round it with a variety of items in such as a poisoned apple, rose etc. There was a stage in the middle of the Plaza which had an evening show.

That's it for the Disneyland Park - now onto the Studios!

OK, onto the Studios. Still only a half-day park in my view, and not normally a busy one at that. Its getting there though, as these pictures will show - although I think the park will suffer from having little bits thrown in here and there - Terror Towers in the middle of the park is a classic example, and you spend a lot of time doubling back on yourself - its all dead ends.

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/studio1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/studio1_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/mouse.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/mouse_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/tower.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/tower_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
The entrance to the Studios, the Fountain Mickey has a snazzy coat but no water!

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/magic.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/magic_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/artist.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/artist_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/nemo.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/nemo_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
The new Toon Town area is behind the Magic of Disney Animation, lots of walls up here at the moment. The artists impression is the best pic I got - we went on the Flying Carpets to look behind the walls but the battery went flat - but not much to see other than construction mess anyhow. Studio 5 will house the Crush's Coaster ride.

<a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/reign.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/reign_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/terror1.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/terror1_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a> <a href="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/terror2.jpg" target="_blank"><img border="0" src="http://www.peanutwood.net/images/dlrp/terror2_tn.jpg" hspace='2' vspace='2' valign="middle"></a>
The Reign of Fire scene in the Backlot tour is something not seen in Orlando, and looks pretty smart - the fire can warm you up nicely on a cold day! Front and rear views of the Tower of Terror, I think they are working for a more Mediterranean hotel look, and the "dirtyness" in the middle of the first picture shows the effect the whole hotel will have when completed.

And thats it for us at DLRP for 2006. Had no problems with the staff or the visitors this time, it all seemed rather pleasant! Also found out that you can use your annual pass for discount in the Rainforest Cafe, which was an added bonus!

Seasons Greetings to you all!

We like it, its all a bit more compact than WDW, but that is no bad thing. OK, so the staff aren't quite as good as the ones in WDW either, and smoking is still rife throughout the park but its pretty good - and only 3-4hrs from home, rather than a days travelling!

The hotels are all excellent, we've stayed in Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay and Hotel New York on-site and more recently have stayed in the Holiday Inn (which is a great place) to take advantage of Priority Club points. With the free shuttle bus its almost as quick as the walk from Sequoia anyhow.

Its well worth a short visit - 3 days will see you right. Go enjoy it!

Ive always liked disneyland paris - i think i prefer the management of it - on the surface its hostile BUT it lets the attendees do their own thing - it isnt so... i dunno in your face as the florida parks. Your left to your own devices - and its very european in the sense that you have to ask, your not spoon fed upon arrivial. I stayed there for a week - i think next time im doing 3 days though! :lookaroun disneyland is a day and the studios is half a day - although ive done both in one day in the summer before....:lookaroun

i think i also prefer the european feel - spacious and clean, although its not as humid as florida (of which i prefer)

Its finally expanding too :sohappy: 10 years down the line i can see the studios growing, lets hope the tot is better then the american versions (like rnrc is! :sohappy:

ive been a good couple of times myself.... and i always tie it in if im going to paris for the (long) weekend.
