Well, for the second time this year, DL AP prices have made a huge jump, starting yesterday. The new AP prices are:

SoCal Select: $99
SoCal: $149 (previously $129)
Deluxe: $209 (previously $179)
Premium: $329 (previously $279)

Ouch. Glad I renewed a month ago!

I just received my renewal letter in the mail with the previous prices. I guess those renewing over the mail don't pay the new A.P. prices.

their reasoning (At least what my friends in DLR GR told me this afternoon), to limit the number of AP's sold...

here's a better idea. Why not actually put a limit on the number of AP's sold. Like a monthly quota... once they're gone, they're gone.

I hope that happens to me, too. However, since my pass expires in December they'll probably change it to the new price. :(

Oh well...

I don't really think it is unfair of Disney to make these increases in price. APs at Disneyland were always WELL below industry standards, so these are increases in price that should have been occurring all along. If they limited the number of APs sold, people would just hoard them and sell them on eBay for more than Disney charges, and then those extra profits go into other people's pockets, not Disney's, so I can understand Disney's stance on this.

Hmmm...? What about getting rid of the So. Cal select A.P.'s as well. I've never seen the purpose for them.

Sure, they need to raise prices. They're always adding more things and giving us exceptional quality. However, they raised them TWO TIMES this year...doesn't that seem like a little too much?

Also, you can't sell your AP on ebay, they're non-transferable. You buy it, you've got it.

I've been saying that for ages. I think having a pass that's priced that low causes some people to buy passes that really don't care about them. It's a cheap hangout for them, and that attracts an undesirable aspect to the park. If all the AP prices are higher, and there are no "cheap" passes, it really forces people to say "Is this something I really want?" Those people who say yes will be those people who love Disneyland for itself, not for being just another place to hang out after class/work.

Yikes! I hope my renewal (in March) comes back cheaper or I don't think we'll be able to afford to renew! Do they take installment payments? j/k

We actually plan to vacation for a nice LONG time in WDW in December of 2005, so I might miss ya'll for the 50th if we decide to go with a premiem AP there instead of in Cali.

Actually, that's not such a bad plan. We do that here at SeaWorld, and it's a fairly popular option. :) But I suppose if DL's trying to cut the number of APs, it's in their interests not to offer an installment plan.
