DL Resort Trip Report 12/25/13

Just returned from a week in California with the family. I've never seen such great weather in December before. Everyday was sunny and in the low 80s to high 70s. It was fantastic So Cal conditions.

On Christmas Day we went to the Disneyland Resort. When we entered the Disneyland gate around 9:00am, we did notice that the park did not seem as crowded as it did last year on Christmas. We rode Matterhorn and It's a small world within the hour and figured that we might get more done than last year!

Then the crowds arrived. But hey, it's Christmas, so we expected it. And we can't complain when it's 80 degrees out. ;)

We left to have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe in DTD and afterwards headed over to California Adventure.

This was the best surprise of the trip. Maybe it's because we spent a majority of the day last year in Disneyland, but DCA is now my third favorite Disney park behind Magic Kingdom and Epcot! Wow there is a lot to do there! And the detail and design is up there with any other Disney park.

After going to WDW so many times, while I appreciate the size and scope of the two additional theme parks in Florida, DCA does a pretty good job at hitting all the highlights of those other two parks, plus more! Even though we didn't get to see everything in one day. It was a plesent surprise to see that Its tough to be a bug was in the park. I didn't even know that! And the muppets? Disney animation? Plus some great dark rides like Monsters Inc. We were all very impressed at how much awesomeness they packed into what used to be Disneyland's parking lot. Also, California Screamin' is up there with my favorite coasters of all time. We went on it twice once during the day and once at night and both times it was a blast! We weren't able to see World of Color because we went back into Disneyland for the rest of the night, but we would like to go back to see that as well.

Overall, I would say I enjoyed this trip better than the last. I was able to slow down and look at the little things in the parks, like I do in WDW, which is probably why this trip was more enjoyable. DCA was the best part of the trip by far, and I didn't even mention Cars Land yet, which was more impressive than last time as well. I think the issue I had with it last time was that we waited too long for a ride that I though was over-hyped. Still good, but i think that decreased my enjoyment of the land. However this trip we didn't go on the Cars Land rides and instead had dinner at Flo's and dessert at the Cozy Cone. We sat and looked at the canyons and took in the atmosphere surrounding us. We felt as if we were in the movie, which is exactly what I believe the land is there for.

I look forward to the next trip to Disneyland which will definitely happen sooner rather than later. Thanks for reading :)

On one hand, I've always wanted to go I into one of the parks on Christmas. On the other hand, I'd rather stay sane.

I keep hearing awesome things about Flos. Going to have to happen next time.

Awesome little report. Thanks so much for sharing! Happy new year!

I do kinda want to go just to see what it's like, but I still value my vacation time/money too much. I'm scared! When I just have so much time that I don't know what to do with it, then I'll try a Disney park on Christmas or NYE.

Cool avatar, bro!

Same to you! I tend to agree with you. When i go to DLR, I'm on a mission since we don't live out there and I need to hit everything important. Spending time waiting in lines all day and maybe doing 1 or 2 things doesn't appeal very much.

Down here at WDW, I've just always known as a local to stay away. Maybe someday. My wife and her family went on NYE one time. I think they got home at 4 o'clock the next afternoon...
