Distance between resorts

Question: It says staying at hotel across the street( example BW) is closer to the Park then staying at a Disneyland resort.
I know if you stay at Disneyland Hotel you must walk thru Downtown Disney. Do you also walk thru DT if you stay at a resort across the street or does it have another entrance?

According to the Googles.... The Disneyland Hotel is 0.5 miles from Disneyland. Paradise Pier Hotel is 0.6 miles away. The Howard Johnson on Harbor (or Candy Cane in the other direction) is also 0.6 miles away. The BW Park Place is 0.3 mi away. I think Google is measuring from the castle, but that should give you an idea of the relative distances anyway.

One big difference between staying at a Disney Hotel versus the Harbor Blvd. hotels is that walking through DT Disney can be a much more pleasant experience than walking through the hoards of people along the very loud traffic corridor of Harbor Blvd. However, I'm not sure that the price difference is worth it for that experience. YMMV.

To further confuse the issue: It's about 1 mile to BW Stovall's or the Westin Anaheim on Katella. The route here is along Disneyland Drive, past the Paradise Pier Hotel and then through DT Disney. We did this for years. It's a longer walk, but very pleasant (especially at night - the trees on DL Drive have twinkly lights in them.)

EDIT: The Katella hotels have bus stops for the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) buses. If you don't want to walk, you can take the bus. These aren't free, but they only service the hotels (not a standard city bus). They come every 20 minutes or so. The drop off and pickup area is the Harbor side of the esplanade. I have no idea if these are running right now with the COVID thing. You'd have to check.

I stayed at the Candy Cane Inn and it was much faster to go to Disneyland from there vs the Disneyland hotel. You enter directly to the park entrance from that side, no downtown Disney.

Entering from Harbor is closer and more direct to the parks vs. entering Downtown Disney from the Disneyland Hotel. Harbor is busy, and you'll inevitably encounter some homeless people right up against the property line, but there are always lots of tourists around and it's very straightforward, safe, and easy.

If you enter by the Disneyland Hotel, you go through security and then must navigate the entirety of DTD (pleasant but somewhat indirect and meandering) before you get to the park gates, which will be the very last thing you will reach. If you enter from Harbor, you walk a short distance, go through security, and the parks are right there.
