Wow, they really are on top of things to remove all that info on the last day.

It's over now. Pleasure Island is no more. Buh-bye! :wave:

Of note, the New Downtown Disney Maps are schedule to come out today. the Giant poster maps at Guest Relations were replaced yesturday.

When it came to PI though, they weren't messing around with deleting its existence.

At 2:45am when leaving the Island, I noticed the following:

-The huge map-sign in front of Mannequins had the club references removed, and the numbers now represent nothing.
-The huge "PLEASURE ISLAND" sign on top of Mannequins was turned off.
-The Mannequins marquee sign at the front of the club was turned off.
-The electronic message board which cycled humorous messages on Hotel Plaza Boulevard "Honk on 3....Free restrooms...an island you won't be voted off of, etc." has new messages reflecting Downtown Disney as a whole "Over 70 shops, restraurants, and fun spots...etc."

That being said, it was a great last night and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Thanks for the memories, PI!

Just as an aside...

Is the island actually going to be closed off or just buildings boarded/fenced off as they're renovated to whatever is planned? I'm guessing you'll still be able to walk through from Marketplace to West Side?

Any idea when work will start on removing all the signage? I imagine it will be done pritty fast with the large signs with the LED on Hotel Blvd going first.

Walked around there this afternoon...signs are already being taken down...

Ticket trolleys contain NO signage...

BET Soundstage, Advclub, and Comedy Warehouse are the only clubs with signs still up. References to 8Trax, Motion, and Mannequins (except the marquee) are all gone.

Outdoor beverage carts were being cleaned out this afternoon.

It's so surreal, and felt like I was walking through a graveyard.

Not surprising. Look at how quickly the Disney-MGM Studios to Disney's Hollywood Studios transition went.

Funny how they said "guests" wanted more retail. People make jokes about how many stores are at WDW. You know how many times people ask why there are so many?

Just odd, I missed being able to go to the AdvClub, so that's something I'll never be able to experience. :(
