Hi All,

I was really looking forward to using disneywaititmes.com on my up coming trip but the site has had an error the last week or so saying that real wait times are not currently available. I know the creator of the site posted on here about it before (for the life of me I can't find the original thread?!) so does anyone know what's up with it?

Possibly he was using unauthorized access to information?

That would be my guess. I think he was pulling data straight from Disney's site, and there are probably a lot of legal no-no's involved.
Yes. And I covered it at the time in that first thread.

Not really shocking that the site is down. :P

He was being very shady when he was questioned about how he made his site and was acquiring his information.

Could this be a subtle example that Disney has brass watching these boards? I mean, if in fact he was somewhat "shutdown" by Disney, this site was where he was promoting his product.

I think Disney would be stupid not to watch what goes on with social media and on boards like this one.

Here's the thread with the creator and the subsequent conversation about his site: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/too-crowded.893959/page-13#post-6479824

Hrm...that's not the one I was thinking of.

There was someone who'd done something similar before...but maybe it wasn't wait times...cause that happened well before that thread...

I'm confuzzling myself!

Thx for finding it though!

I searched and that's the one I remember where it snowballed... Perhaps the mods exercised some Disney magic and made it vanish...

Yeah, or it could be the ADR site someone did a while ago that was using bot MDE accounts and screen scrapes to get ADRs...

I don't recall... But, yeah, what he's doing for that site...probably not the best idea. :P

The site itself doesn't appear to go down but there is a message stating 'Actual wait times are currently unavailable. Posted wait times, attraction status, show times, and character meet and greet times are still available.' on the top of the pages...

The website is running. The posted wait time is running, it's the elusive "real time" wait that is missing. This is the speculation of where he got the info from.

Right, and the bragging point of this site is the part that has gotten "shut down". That being the "actual" wait time.

Yup, definitely the one I was thinking of. He was somehow pulling data right off the MDE wait time app/site. So, either Disney caught wind of it through sites like this, or they saw the insane number of data queries from the same IP address, and said, "Nope!"

Disney owns the data. He was stealing the data for his own commercial use (whether selling it or not). Dumb.

I found through a search and seeing a link from him on another thread that the disneywaittimes app comes from Spot Mickey on Twitter who also runs blogmickey.com. He's got the wait time app all detailed out over there.
