DULLES, Va. (CBS.MW) -- AOL Time Warner (AOL: news, chart, profile) is reported considering five candidates to run its America Online unit, according to a New York Daily News report. The paper said the company is "close to naming a new boss."
The newspaper's list published Tuesday included John Antioco, chief executive of Blockbuster Video (BBI: news, chart, profile); Jon Miller, ex-president of USA Interactive's (USAI: news, chart, profile) information services group; Disney's (DIS: news, chart, profile) theme-parks boss, Paul Pressler; Stephen Burke, president of Comcast Cable (CMCSK: news, chart, profile); and, possibly, Marjorie Scardino, CEO of Pearson (PSO: news, chart, profile).
Executive shifts at AOL
A pair of high-level management shifts occurred at America Online. AOL Music chief Kevin Conroy has been asked to head up a new division called AOL Entertainment, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Conroy was given senior vice president stripes and dominion over movies, television, ticketing and games besides music and radio on the service.
Meanwhile, David Colburn, known in the industry as a brash and aggressive dealmaker at America Online, has been moved out of that role, the Washington Post reported. Colburn will continue to work on strategy and other broad issues, sources familiar with the matter told the Post. His day-to-day business duties are being assumed by Lance Conn, who's been helping expand AOL Internet services in Europe.
