We just finished our trip from Feb 9th-16th and the POR resort was really nice. But we won't be back for 2 years but we need to add a extra day to our trip so we can enjoy the resort. We missed out on the pool which it was really cool the day's we were there anyway, the bikes, the boats, campfire, movie, etc....I don't see how people get all the parks in and enjoy the resort also. So I guess we will just have figure in a longer stay.

An extra day would definitely help.

The thing for us about enjoying POR is to do it mid-day (take breaks from the parks to sit by the pool, walk around the lake, etc.) and at night after dark when the resort is truly beautiful.

yeah I think we might sleep in on a day when hours are opening later in a park and enjoy the resort instead of trying to go to catch a bus and head to a park and then waste time trying to catch a bus back to resort and then turn around and go back to the park. Just stay at the resort and then go back later in the afternoon to the park. Just a thought I have two years to figure this out!! LOL:happy:

Glad you enjoyed your stay at PORS! We are heading there in May. It really is a beautiful resort. I don't think there's anyone that really feels like they got to see everything. I often leave wondering what happened to the pool/resort time, or how didn't we make it to DTD more than one afternoon? There's just so much to do and see. We started staying for an extra day if we can manage, just to help with that dilemma!

When we stayed at Wilderness Lodge last year, we never made it to the main pool. We never did the campfire. And we never even made it to DAK. I don't know where the week went! So I can totally relate.

POR was our favorite resort for years. It's certainly got a heavy dose of Disney Magic. Beautifully themed- especially the Bayou portions. The main pool is great and has it's own island in the middle of a lake. You can take a boat from the resort to DD. We like it so much that we would have bought DVC at it if it were available and still stay there on occasion. I've never stayed at the All-Stars or POP but I can be pretty sure after seeing them that POR is nicer. More expensive too, but you get what you pay for. I can't say enough good about the place. Buses run as good there as they do anywhere else on property.

Thank you so much.I'm just a little nervous since we have never stay at a moderate before. This trip is for our anniversary:) and our kids are older now. We are all excited about this trip :)

I really loved the resort but the bus system there wasn't that great. All I can say is make sure you get on the bus up by the front of the main entrance because the buses get full and there is no room and there are still three more pick-up spots at the resort.

The bus system isn't too bad at Riverside.
There are four stops, South Depot (Front of the hotel), West, North and East. The Magic Kingdom and Downtown buses go West-North-East-South. If it is full at the South, then next bus starts South and goes around. Epcot / AK&BB / MGM go South-West-North-East. Depending how busy it is, there are also a couple of different variations first thing in the morning. There is a South-West-North-Park route, and a East-South-Park route which helps things. Typically, we only use the South first thing in the morning after breakfast if going to a park, and always just use the stop nearest our room. If you have an issue with standing, then you should try the South depot, not that guarantees you'll get a seat of course.

Again, depending when you go, buses to Epcot, AK&BB, MGM will go to French Quarter first. Magic Kingdom buses are split. Downtown&Typhoon (although there is the boat down to DD) go to FQ after they've done the reverse loop at Riverside. Returning from Epcot at night you may well find that they split FQ and Riverside into individual buses.

Articulated buses are also on order and are to be operating on Port Orleans routes, so again, that should help things.

Thank you both so much :)
