Disney's Port Orleans Resort

I have been reading that it is possible to get a shuttle boat between this resort and Down Town Disney, is this correct?

We're planning to stay in a WDW hotel for the first time, p[urely because of the Baby Sitting facilities. This is so that we can visit Downtown for a night with out the kids, obviously it would be nice if I could have a beer so when I saw that there was a boat shuttle service listed then Port Orleans seemed like the ideal hotel from that point of view.

So, my questions are
  1. Does the boat shuttle actually run between Port Orleans and Downtown Disney?
  2. Does it go right to the resort and right ot DTD?
  3. How long does the journey last?
  4. How late does the boat run?
    [/list=1]

    Thanks

Well at the current time the boat has been discontinued, because of the French Quarter being closed. When French Quarter opens again though expect the boats to run to the resort.

Here is some info anyway...

The boat starts at Riverside then goes to French Quarter then right to DTD.

You are dropped off right near the Rainforest Cafe.

If you plan to stay at Pleasure Island after 11:30 then you will need to catch the bus back to the resort (that's when the boat stops)

The ride is about 15-20 minutes to French Quarter and 30-35 to Riverside.

It is a very nice ride. You go past OKW and the Institute. They play Disney Music Sometimes or sometimes you get a good captain who gives you information about parks and resorts.

Thanks for the info, I'm guessing that in August it will be running then.

Also, what time do the bus services run until?

Thanks again, that was brilliant.:sohappy:

Busses run until after 2 AM they get everyone out of PI before they stop operating.

i thought when they 'combined' Port Orleans (French Quarter) and Dixie Landings (Riverside), they took out PO's boat launch, and only left DL's up and going. is that right? it might've just been a rumor.

Each resort (french quarter and riverside) have their own docks forthe DTD boat. French Quarter just doesn't have boat rentals anymore.

Disknee Phreak, I had heard the same thing that you did. I believe when Po and DxL was combined they combined the boat docks, and the only one left was at DxL...now PO-FQ.

I hope that they do restart the boat to DTD. We will be staying at PO-FQ in October, and it would be so convenient to go to the Marketplace instead of riding the bus...especially with an 8 year old.

Riding the boat from DxL to DD is one of the highlights of our holidays, we enjoy it so much that we even do it if we're not staying at DxL, we drive there, leave the car and get the boat. It may take a little longer but hey you're on vacation!

I hope that the resort will open by then. It should be though. I hope it's open by august.
