Disney's Movie and Music All-Star Resorts.......

I'm thinking about staying at one of these resorts on my next trip to WDW. Has anyone here stayed at either of these? And what did you think? Would you recommend them? I've heard good and bad things. I'm not sure if I should stay at one of those or just go to Marriot or something. I'm going to be on a budget. :animwink:

Stay at one of the All Star Resorts. We were at the Movies in October and loved it. It is such a fun place. It is good for families and couples. My husband and I did not have any complaints at all! We will be going to the Music resort for Christmas.

If you're going to be on a budget, it's probably a good idea to stay here, because they're inexsepnsive but still on property and stuff, plus the all-star movies is very Disney-ish :)

They are all very nice.... you meet real people there too!....The rooms are very nice and they are kept up well....I have stayed at The high priced Contemporary, the Dolphin, and the moderates...but for my money All Star resorts is great....The biggest advantage to any on site hotel is the fact that you can go to the room in the afternoon and take a nap before the evening activities... Any thing you buy in the parks can be sent directly to your room.....be sure to get a wake up call.... and let the kids answer the phone:animwink:

I have stayed in the All Star Movies and I really enjoyed it. The only down side was that we stayed in "The Love Bug" block which was quite far awy from the pools and the food court etc. If I was going back, I would request rooms in 101 Dalmations or Toy Story.

Been at the All-Star Movies 3 times in the last 18 months. It's a good deal. I figure that I don't spend much time in my hotel anyway, so it doesn't have to be too glamorous....

my honeymoon, on the other hand....

I've stayed at all three of the hotels. The are close to Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, and a short bus ride to MGM. I would suggest the Music Resort and ask for the Calypso buildings. They are closest to the lobby as well as the bus stops.

all three all-star resorts are basically the same. if your main consideration is budget, check www.mousesavers.com. you might be able to get a break on the room rate for disney and non-disney hotels.

my last three trips, i stayed at the all-star sports, all-star movies and the courtyard by marriott in downtown disney. in october, i got a $29 a night rate at the courtyard, which was about $50 cheaper than the best rate being offered at that time at any of the all-star resorts.

for me, the main reason to stay on property is for early entry, which no longer exists. the next reason is convenience, staying at a hotel that is close to the parks and has good transportation. the third reason is consistency; you can be pretty sure your room at a disney property will be clean and comfortable.

most everything else isn't necessary -- the arcade, disney store (trust me, there's a good chance you'll stumble across one or two or a dozen of those in your touring), a pair of giant maracas (though who doesn't like a pair of giant maracas?) -- or you can find at a non-disney hotel (pool, food, indoor plumbing).

many of the benefits you get by staying at a disney property you can get at a non-disney property at downtown disney. anywho, it's worth a look. good luck and have a great trip!
