There are severant differant ways to make your Magical Moments pins light up.

You can just Tap them with your finger.

There are several areas in the parks with interactive Disney Video quiz games. Correct answers will make them light up.

Also: Differant Disney rides and events will make them light up. They light up during Parades...on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride..Winnie The Pooh...Splash Mountain.....and many other rides. I'm not going to tell you ALL the places the pins light up though. Part of the fun is in the surprise. Check out differant areas of the parks and find out for yourself...It's a BLAST..and Have FUN!! :)

Wow, I was about to post the exact same question! I did notice mine flashed all blue during the Fantasia segment of "The Great Movie Ride".
I also had fun with it during the Tapestry of dreams parade. I closely followed the rope (at the end of the parade) and depending on how close I got to the last float (Leonardo Columbus) my pin would start and stop flashing. Anybody got any more?

I've got a cast document that describes the pins in detail. Not anything on frequencies, though. Any other questions, it should answer. Ask away.

A CM told me to just brush my hand across it to light it. And not to press it, that has broken quite a few.

Also (if you can) take along a very small phillips head screwdriver. That way you can take the batteries out when you are not in the park. The pin continues to burn the batteries at all times and they wear out rather fast. You'll get much more use out of it that way.

Well, I can't find it right now, but I'll continue to look.

Some of the better reactions:

It lights solid red as you pass the Steppe Temple in El Rio del Tiempo.

It mimics a heartbeat at the end of The Haunted Mansion.

Just got my "100 years of Magic" magical moments pin. Can't wait to use it in the park. A CM picked one up for me. Where else does it react? Is there a list?

the new banners in all the parks set the pins off. Not all the banners but its cool, lets say when you are walking down Mainstreet past the banners and all of a sudden your pins goes off. Its ALOT of fun.

hey crazyjon. on the last float of ToD the guy on the float is wearing a ring. that is the sensor. I know this because when he was going by me he would point to the ring and then to my pins.

Thanks Mickeyman, he didn't do that for us. Hey GCURLING, is there any information on how long they will be supporting (ie. send out signals for) the pins? If I bring my pin back in five years with a fresh set of batteries will it still go off, or will it be relegated to "collector" status?

The pins go crazy when you walk underneath Spaceship Earth. It's so fun! I was there at the beginning of the celebration, and had all five pins on my lanyard. When I went through the Sorcerer Mickey segment of the GMR, the people in front of me turned around to see where the blue light was coming from! The pins also go wild at the end of Fantasmic!

My 5 yr old wore his sorcerer hat pin everywhere we went. The one I remember most vividly was when it went off in Peter Pans flight. That pin was sooooo worth the money, I am really glad it was our first purchase when we arrived.

Everywhere and about 15 bucks

Above is the short answer, but you can get them in just about every gift shop in the World. I got my son's at the resort gift shop as soon as we arrived and he loved every minute of it. He had to have it standing on the night stand facing him in order to go to sleep at the resort, and he made sure it was in perfect position and ship shape on his shirt before leaving every morning.

It was the best 15 bucks I spent on our trip.

Enjoy!

Can you only buy them in the parks though? Actually thats a pretty silly thing to say if they dont even work off the wdw. Please ignore me, I'm talking rubbish.

Hey, no, not rubbish at all. I mean the pins are still really cool even without the magical lighting up stuff. They are big and colorful and they light up when you touch them gently and they light for a while each time.

They are a lot more fun in the World however.

I'm sure you can get them from Disney merchandising, but I misplaced their phone number maybe 407.939.6200?

It's ok, I'm heading out to wdw this summer, so I'll go check them out then! Cheers for all the info!
