Disney's Hollywood Studios Makeover Ideas

From 2007 to 2012 Disney's California Adventure did a 1.1 billion dollar expansion. The park added attractions such as Toy Story Midway Mania, The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Undersea Adventure, World of Color, and Cars Land. Imagineers revamped some attractions in Paradise Pier, created a new entrance, added Buena Vista Street and Carthay Circle Theater as a focal point. The following is some of my ideas on a similarly aggressive makeover of Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Hollywood Boulevard would see the removal of the Sorcerer's Hat. Echo Lake would be incorporated into Hollywood Boulevard land and see the removal of the dinosaur ice cream stand. A refreshing of the buildings facades would invoke a 1950's Hollywood vibe.

Star Wars Land would start just after Echo Lake Ends and include the old Sounds Dangerous building. The Sounds Dangerous Building would be given a new look updating it to look like Yoda's Hut.

Inside would be a small theater with bench style seating, an animatronic Yoda would come out and greet guests. He would use the force to lift some objects (perhaps a cast member planted in the audience would have his seat lifted with him on it?), Yoda would talk about the need for more Jedi Knights on this planet and he would single out one youngster and give him (yes give him, not make his parents by him) a light saber. Yoda would pass on a few more bits of wisdom and then guests would exit the theater into a light saber store, where Jedi Knight cast members would be on hand to help you find the light saber that suits you best.

Here are my ideas for Disney's Hollywood Studios:

In the Hollywood Boulevard area the first thing I would do is demolish Mickey's Sorcery Hat. It is a major waste of space and it really disturbs the whole environment of that area. American Idol would be converted into an updated version of Superstar Television. The Sounds Dangerous building will be gutted and converted into a attraction featuring of course, sound, smell, and physical senses. A new Star Wars attraction called Super Sabers is built featuring you in a sci-fi battle against evil.

Animation Courtyard would be renamed The Courtyard. The Magic of Disney Animation would again feature the animation tour and new exhibits. Animation would again move most of production to Florida. Disney Junior Live! would be converted back into the Soundstage Resturaunt.

Pixar Place would be moved to the west side of Sunset Boulevard and a path connecting The Courtyard to Sunset Boulevard would be added to the Northeastern corner of Courtyard. Toy Story Mania would be moved to a new show building beside Rockin Rollercoaster. Nemo would be moved from Epcot and a Monsters Inc. attraction would be added. Also a sit down table resturaunt with a character meal.

Mickey Avenue will have the Backstage Pass Tour added again that displays special effects and gives an overview of productions going on at that time. Changes to the Walt Disney theater will also be made.

The Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set will be converted into The Land of Oz interactive play area in the Streets of America section. Lights, Motors, Action! will be scooted over to where the current entrance into Hollywood Studios is now. Dick Tracey's Crime Stoppers will be built near the entrance of LMA. The arch in New York Street is returned.

The Muppet Studios area is finally completed with The Great Muppet Movie Ride, The Muppets on Stage, and a new eatery called Kermit's Green Goods that sells healthy items.

Sunset Boulevard will be expanded with a orange grove at the end of the street, trolley cars and a new street.

The backlot will be expanded with actual productions going on. 2 new soundstages will be built and other faculties expanded on the old entrance road. Residential Street is added back. The Backlot tour is refurbished and some tweaks are made to return it to its original glory.

OTHER:

A new entrance is added of of Buena Vista Boulevard. Monorail station is added near the rear of Fantasmic! Sorcery in the Sky makes a return with upgrades and changes.
