Disney's Hollywood Studios Expansion!

Ok, we all know Disney's Hollywood Studios is considered a thrill park (though it only has two major thrill rides) and it is full of old, tired shows and one boring parade. So, I have been thinking about my own Hollywood Studios makeover or giant expansion that could be compared to the billion dollar expansion about to (finally) be completed in DCA over on the West Coast. All right, let's get started!

Let's first start at Hollywood Boulevard. The entrance (which I enjoy) would stay the same as well as the circular street around the nice (repainted, I might add) Crossroads of America, except to the left of the turnstiles (if you are entering). I still need an idea for an old, yet famous Hollywood building for this small attraction. It would be Madam Minnie's (like Madame Tassuad's) Hollywood Wax Museum. It would feature current A-list celebrities and Disney Channel stars with Mickey and the gang in animatrionic form giving it a touch of Disney magic. Now you can interact with your favorite celebrities like never before right in Hollywood! Next, the last building on the right side before you get to the Sunset Boulevard side-street would be redone into Disney's El Capiton Theatre (based off the one across from the Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA . In it would show Disney classic movies in a redid 4D experience for the whole family to enjoy...it's also just for looks.... Next, something I have a feeling major Disney fans will enjoy...the giant Sorveror's Hat GONE!-kind of- In it's place, a brilliant courtyard stage featuring a wonderful stage show featuring some of Hollywood's greatest hits (name?) with costumes and LIVE NOT RECORDED singing. Classic Disney Characters (AKA STARS) would roam around the Boulevard meeting guests.

Next is a new ''land'' in place of Commissary Lane is Game Show Lane. Here guests get in the show! The American Idol Experience is basically the same. Other game shows added are Wheel of Fortune (during "commercials" guests get their own fun theme park puzzles with handheld devices to submit their guesses, the first right answer wins a free picture of them and their group in Hollywood Studios somewhere, guests also guess while the three contestants that auditioned are guessing too!) and Family Feud because it is a family theme park (the audiences do the same commercial break type things with their own groups like in Wheel of Fortune). Winner's Wieners is a small hot dog stand between WOF and FF.

Ok it's late and I'm tired so stay tuned because Animation Courtyard is GONE and what will happen to Sunset Boulevard and the nighttime show, Fantasmic!?

I like your ideas for Game Show Lane, but I'm afraid American Idol's days are numbered. Why don't you replace with a new version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?: Play It!?

Possibly, or if ABC's new Duets show is popular enough it could be changed to that which also promotes the Disney OWNED ABC.

So, as I mentioned in the first post Animation Courtyard is gone-sort of-! Replacing it would be Disney Channel Studios which gives the park a real studio feel again while promoting Disney Channel and Disney Junior TV show! First, Disney Junior: Live on Stage would be the same. Next, look on Google Maps at the "old" Animation Courtyard. The front part of The Magic of Disney Animation would be demolished to make way for a new Disney Junior area/playground in Disney Channel Studios. The main part where the MoDA was demolished would include Mickey Mouse Clubhouse based on the show. It would be like the former Toontown houses only based on the TV show and it would have more interactive, playground-y activities for younger guests. You can also take a Hot Air Balloon ride in the MM Glove with your high in the sky host, Donald Duck (not quite as high as Characters in Flight in DD)! On top of the Disney Junior: LoS show building (or, studio) is Special Agent Oso's Zipline, a thrilling obstical/zipline ride for guests of all ages based on the TV show. Also on top of the show building is Jungle Junction Jamboree, it would be like Mater's Junkyard Jamboree coming to DCA in Disneyland Resort, on Jungle Junction themed. The Little Einstein's Pat Pat Rocket Ship Adventure would be both a Suess's High Sky Trolley (what's it called at Universal?) and a less thrilling Star Tours. The rocket ship goes high over the Disney Junior area of Disney Channel Studios and enters a 3D simulator all over the world like the 7 Wonders of the World and Disney parks while influencing the guests to pat, clap, stomp, sing, laugh, and more! Jake and the Neverland Pirates would have their own interactive Meet and Greet installed and Doc McStuffin's Clinic would allow you to fix up broken stuffed animal animatronics that really need your help! OK, let's move away from Disney Junior "land" and onto something a bit more thrilling (but still animated). behind the old Magic of Disney Animation building would be a white sidewalk leading to the Flynn-Fletcher home in the suburbs, a complete recreation! Walk into the living room to find a homemade-built stage (the couch, a coffee table, lamps, and drapes/curtains) with animatronics Phineas, Ferb, and the rest of the gang (hey, where's Perry, oh that's right...in EPCOT!) welcoming you to the Coolest Coaster Ever! Wind through the queue all over the house after the pre-show and find evidence of what they took to quickly build their homemade stage. Finally, exit to the backyard and find the famous tree, wooden fence, and a roller coaster station?!?! Race through Danville past some famous landmarks like Slushie Dog, Doofenshmirtz Evil Inc., the grocery store, Perry's secret headquarters, and more! But watch out for the busting Candace, she switches the track to a dangerous, different part Phineas and Ferb accidently built! It goes on a crazy hill and ends with a splash in the Danville Dam! Moving on...the old Voyage of the Little Mermaid building, a recreation of the set of Shake It Up! would be built. You may even catch a taping of this week's Shake It Up, Chicago show! Beware of the mean Shake It Up, Orlando, for they might ruin the finale and YOUR spotlight dance! In the middle of the studios, Kickin' It! from Disney XD will be "on location" filming a karate competition. This high action and comical side show might need the strong dads to save the damsels in distress (the moms) from the ninjas! Walt Disney: One Man's Dream's outdoor facade would be updated to look like a movie set that looks like LA when he came in 1928. The old Narnia building would have a recreation of the set of Jesse and host Kipling Kraze (the komodo dragon). He ran off somewhere and can't be found so it's up to you to board your studio golf cart and "drive" it around the set to find him before the taping of this week's show! Throughout all the Disney Channel Studios would be Charlie Chase! A new sorcerer's of the MK type attraction. Try to find Charlie Duncan (Mia Talerico) from Good Luck Charlie before the taping of that week's show. So, now you know about Disney Channel Studios, I will share more details about the Toy Story Land, the new Animation Courtyard, Pixar Towers, the new Pixar Studios, and more!

Ok, let's move on to Toy Story Land which may be a bit more interesting than what I've previously mentioned...
It would be like the Toy Story Land already in Paris...with a little more next-gen and thrill. The Pixar Place sign, of course, would be removed and have blocks, Potato head parts, legos, and other recognizable toys to make the new Toy Story Land sign. Walk under the fun new sign and look to your left, you will see a new, oversized dollhouse, Ken's Dream House. Here, explore Ken's House from toy's point of view. You can also meet new face characters, Ken and Barbie. Little girls and boys can have their own fashion show in Ken and Barbie's dressing room. Don't forget the elevator on the side of the house that YOU have to move. Pull the rope, just like a kid would have to, to get yourself back down after the meet and greet. To the right, Toy Story Mania would be the same. Keep walking and find yourself in, literally, a brand new area. The entrance of the Backlot Studio Tour will have been moved closer to a refurbished show of the Lights, Motors, Action! show. Now, the old Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set would still have some of the same props. Here would be, Slinky Dog Spin like in Paris. Potato Head Playtime is a new type of chair swings ride. There are six chairs attached to both hands of Potato Head and Mrs. Potato Head. They swing up, down, around, and more making you very dizzy! It's totally a step up from the original carnival ride and Slinky Dog Spin for younger guests. RC Racer would also be different than Paris. It would still have the vertical tracks like Paris, but first, ride with RC over Toy Story Land, over Toy Story Mania, and crash in Ken's Dream House, then go on the two vertical tracks to end the ride. This would totally need new "roller coaster" track technology, but WDI can do it!

There's one entertainment medium that isn't represented at the Studios: Video games. A video game area based around Tron, Wreck-It Ralph and Nintendo franchises would be pretty awesome.

I would LOVE to see a TRON coaster come to MK in place of Tomorrowland Speedway...I think those could be added to EPCOT nicely...I want to really focus on the Hollywood Studio aspect of this park :)

More on the expansion:
ALSO!: Pizza Planet would be moved from the Streets of America to the Streets of America entrance of Toy Story Land. It would be more like what was in the movie than currently at the studios. Now, we were talking about the Streets of America so NEXT:

Near Mama Melrose's major changes would take place. First, in an expanded old Pizza Planet building, is a new small family coaster based on a famous Muppet (since it is across from what would be a VERY refurbished Muppet*Vision 3D). The coaster would be called "Miss Piggy starring in When Pigs Fly!" It would be very innovative and take you into almost every flight possible including Delta airlines, rocket ships, hang-gliders, parasailing, helicopter, angels flying to the Heavens, etc. The use of omnimax screens and 4D interactive elements would be involved in this inverted coaster. The cars would be shaped like a test-pilot Miss Piggy. The story: Miss Piggy recieved a new role and had to play an flight attendant, but she had never flown in anything before! She needs your help to do every flight possible here so she knows what to do because Miss Piggy must be and is the best in everything she does! Then, look on google maps again. Mama Melrose is very close to the main DHS road leading to the parking lot. A huge bridge and observation "tower" would be built just a few yards closer to Mama Melrose to lead over the road going to the best part of the expansion, the Animator's Addition. Here, you would pay the $14 dollar parking and (if you're already in the park) use the bridge to get to the majorly expanded area of the park. It would be based off the Hollywood and Highland mall in the heart of Hollywood, even the giant Indian elephant statues. It would be very detailed and perfect for the start of a star-studded day at DHS! I understand that this might be hard to understand because I'm typing this vaguely, I might add some concept art later :) So, let's move on! The Animator's Addition: this isn't a land, it is three "lands" or studios that are totally cool, IMO.

The first part of the Animator's Addition is the new Animation Courtyard (this is the new place where the hat goes). It is on a new lagoon and across the lagoon is Toon Studios (a new Toontown). Also in the AA is Pixar Studios, a HUGE part of the expansion which includes (yes...) Radiator Springs, Monstropolis, an INCREDIBLE(s) Volcano, a Scottish castle and archery field, an UP floating restaurant, a futuristic spaceship featuring Walle and Eve, Finding Nemo the Musical, a bug's land, Guesto's 5 Star Character diner, etc.

1. In 4 years nobody will know who the people in those Disney Channel rides are because they will be off the air, and it would cost a lot of money to be retheming it every 3 years.
2. You can't have a Toy Story Land, Radiator Springs, Monstropolis, A Bugs Land and then another separate Pixar land, they all have to be together as one Pixar land.
3. Is your Muppet coaster a small family coaster or a big inverted coaster with projectors? You said both, and those two cannot co-exist.
4. An UP floating restaurant won't work unless it has an illusion to it cause nobody would go to eat in the sky, and people pulling themselves with the elevator can go wrong cause if they stop pulling they would just drop.

1. Yeah, I understand, but there are no real rides or even E-ticket rides except Phineas and Ferb which I believe would be fine after 3 years, look how long Kim Possible was at EPCOT. Retheming would cost more, but it would also bring in more money because guests want to see something new on their vacation.
2. They don't HAVE to be, Toy Story Land is the only seperate one. And I will admit, after seeing Carsland...it needs to stay at DCA because that park truly deserves it. Pixar Studios is basically a general area of "lands" connecting with one another to form the Studios.
3. I understand your point. It is NOT a big inverted coaster, but it has small projections and simulations with 4D effects for anyone in the family to enjoy.
4. It doesn't actually float, the "garden hose" attached to the fire hydrant in the ground and strong ropes (almost invisible) running through the balloons on the house help support it. You get up it by going up Russell's Wilderness Boy treehouse. Wind through it to get to his private kitchen entrance and get to the restaurant. The house windows have screens like Soarin' that take you through almost everywhere around the world while you eat. I for one think eating in the sky would be different and cool. Also, when I say pulling, the elevator itself is slowly moving, so whether they pull themselves down or not, they get down. If what you said were true about it, they would get to the ground a lot faster :p

There is some good ideas in there, things I did not think of before that would be great to see.

I like the wax museum, though hopefully they don't have helen parr doing meet and greets near by because that character's head looks like something in a wax museum.

I don't think that disney is going to be extending the contract for ai:e, it seemed to be a knee jerk reaction.

This is what I have drawn up before for an expansion / update to dhs, and what you are thinking of could work in here. I changed where the entrance is to extend hollywood blvd to south lake. Along with that, the hat is moved to be the anchor of the street, clean up the sightlines, and put a weenie in a more dramatic position for guests arriving. Before I had a almost a hundred yards of just a walk-up but having a copy of the El Capiton Theatre on one side and the wax museum on the other will complete the look and also give guests something to do when they first arrive or are leaving.

This would be great. Video games are sorely underrepresented at the World.

Well that is understatement. I want for them to have tron, loved both movies. With elecTRONica being a success on the west coast, that is an element of late night that can be done in dhs.

With DQ just sitting doing nothing, why not just have it turned into a Nintendo showcase? If Nintendo wants to product test games and different devices, well that would be the best place for it. Disney has done this partly in the past when sega had tons of systems at innovations.

Yes I agree with you. I don't think many people would miss Disney Quest, they should turn it into a Nintendo Showcase like you said.
