Hi everyone,
As part of my school project I made an expansion plan for DHS. Please give me feedback as they are needed to complete this project.

Thank You!

Purpose of my Plan

l To increase traffic flow to this park. As other parks in Disney World has more attendance then any other parks in the world, the new, re-imagined Hollywood Studios will increase flow in the park and reduce congestion in other Disney World parks.

l To increase attractions. Truly world-class attractions will be increased to make this park a must-see for guests all around the world.

l To raise the standards for other Disney parks. The re-imagined Hollywood Studios will set the bars high up for the future of the Walt Disney Company, creating a new set of imaginative venues for it to grow.

l To let guests of any age enjoy what the park has to offer.

l Part of the growth strategy of Walt Disney Company to invest in projects that enhances what the guests may want to experience.

Plans for Disney’s Hollywood Studios Over the Next Several Years
In addition to the new themeing and attractions, Disney’s Hollywood Studios will receive new retail innovations, landscaping to enrich the placemaking, facade and graphics enhancements, and an extensive menu of entertainment and events.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is already home to some of the highest-rated attractions and shows at the Walt Disney World Resort including: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Rock’n Roller Coaster, Toy Story Midway Mania and Star Tours: The Adventures Continue.

As the park is a “movie” park, the expansions will feature existing intellectual properties such as Pixar films, Star Wars and the old classic movies. As such, these IP’s will be instantly recognizable to guests, letting more guests fully enjoy the theming and surrounding atmosphere.

Pixarland

This exciting new addition located next to “Toy Story Midway Mania!” will immerse guests to familiar locations from the various Pixar films. Highlights include “Toy Story Playland”, “Radiator Springs” and “Monstropolis”. These locations immerse visitors into the world of Toy Story, Cars and Monsters, Inc. This amazing 60-acre expansion will take over the previous “Studio Backlot Tour” location.

l Toy Story Playland- A land with warm environments and tame attractions for the younger audience. With 3 new attractions that are “carnival” rides. Hollywood Studios will receive attractions that weren’t here in the past. Rides that cater to the younger audiences. In this area, a new restaurant “Pizza Planet” based on the same restaurant from “Toy Story” that will recreate the spacey familiar environment of the already classic restaurant.

l RC Racer- This towering orange tower will feature RC, the remote controlled car. This attraction is an already existing ride at Walt Disney Studios Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland. This ride is essentially a skater-coaster, which is both tame but still thrilling. This soaring attraction recreates the famous climax scene from “Toy Story” when Woody and Buzz Lightyear chase the truck. Now is your chance to “Falling with style”.

l Green Army Men Parachute Drop- This flying attraction will send guests flying above Toy Story Playland aboard parachutes. This ride gives a breath-taking view of Hollywood Studios with a brief drop section/

l Slinky’s Zigzag Spin- Guests go on-board Slinky the Dog to spin around while he chases his tail. This spinning attraction is slow for younger audiences.

l Pizza Planet- The iconic restaurant from the movie is a giant, 2-floor restaurant with an arcade and an eatery. It creates a “Space”-feel and guests will feel immersed.

l Shops: “Andy’s Toy Box”, a new venue that sells Toy Story goods.

l Radiator Springs- Home of Lightning McQueen and Mater, this area recreates the town of Radiator Springs. Identical to the one found in Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, this area creates a southern-feel that is also realistic and cartoony which is a perfect balance.

l Radiator Springs Racers- Race through “Ornament Valley” with other cars. This hybrid attraction is a 4-minute dark-ride/roller coaster through various inside scenes and a thrilling finale with a high-octane race. This ride is another roster to the already strong roller-coaster roster in this park.

l Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree- Spin around on tractors with Mater’s music. This is another carnival ride that is geared for children.

l Flo’s V8 Café- This robusting 50’s diner sells TV dinners and roast beef. Owned by show-girl “Flo”, this café is reminiscent of the 50’s when everything was hip and edgy.

l Cozy Cone Motel- Situated as 6 various cones, this counter-service stand sells “cones”.

l Shops in Radiator Springs- “Sarge’s Surplus”- Cars goods, “Radiator Springs Curios”, “Radiator Springs Racers Winner’s Corner”.

l Monstropolis- The biggest of all areas, Monstropolis re-creates the bustling city district with monsters from “Monsters,Inc.”. This amazing new area is about 15 acres, and a new attraction and a table service sushi bar. Monstropolis serves as the anchor for the new Pixarland area, with the giant Monsters Inc company looming over the park.

l Door Floor Coaster- Indoor roller coaster aboard doors that take guests through the Monsters Inc Powerhouse and recreates the famous door chase scene from the same movie. This roller coaster is intense for young audiences, but brings in the teenage crowd to this otherwise child-friendly corner of the park. Door Floor Coaster is a hybrid, suspended roller coaster with motion simulated vehicles, that corresponds to the action taking place around guests. With spectacular A-100 audio animatronics, guests are soon to be immersed in Sully and Mike Wazowski’s world.

l Harry Hausen’s – Named after the movie-monsters pioneer Ray Harryhausen, this restaurant appeared briefly in the movie. An Asian-sushi restaurant owned by monsters. This table-service restaurant is both witty yet tasty.

l Monstropolis Shops- “Monsters Inc Company Store”- Monsters, Inc. gifts. “Monster Mart”, “Tony’s Glossary”

Maroon Studios

Themed after “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, Maroon Studios is a fictional cartoon studios where actual cartoons, “Toons” work along with humans. This studio complex looks serious. But once inside, it’s zany.

l Maroon Vaults- This motion simulator 3-D attraction takes guests through the “vaults” of Maroon Studios. The simulator takes guests through various cartoons starring Mickey Mouse, Roger Rabbit and other cartoons. This is a kid-friendly motion simulator as opposed to Star Tours. This is a substitute for kids. This ride is also high-capacity, meaning this will be a good opportunity of dispersing crowds.

l Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin- The already existing dark-ride from Disneyland makes it’s way to Maroon Studios. Guests board “Benny the Cab” on a wild ride through the dark alleys of Toon Town, adjacent to Maroon Studios. This dark ride is in the style of classic Disney dark rides, something the park was missing. The storyline is different though in this park. You are a famous Hollywood star in Maroon Studios; the studios hitch you a ride on Benny the Cab but the evil Toon Patrol are after you, and they try to murder you with the DIP(acid that melts only toons). This dark ride is sure to have a impact on audiences as it makes it more flexible for children to come.

l Ink & Paint Club- This bustling “mature” club features live shows by “Jessica Rabbit” and other toons. This is a table service club that caters to the adult demographic. The Ink & Paint Club is also one of the first interactive show/restaurant venue in this park. It will surely bring crowds and disperse crowds from other restaurants. The Ink & Paint Club will also feature dinner shows, at a price featuring a live band.

l Maroon Studios shops- Gag & Dime (Roger Rabbit goods)

Golden Hollywood

The bustling Hollywood of the 20’s-30’s resurfaces as “Golden Hollywood”. This amazing new area features various “celeb” residents and faux studios. The main point of this area is to cater to the adult demographic, with elegant venues and restaurants.

l Gangster Alley- An homage to the classic Mafia films, this attraction will take guests on a high-tech EMV(Enhanced Motion Vehicle) police squad car to stop the mafia from taking over the city. This attraction is thrilling, adding to the park’s already spectacular thrilling ride roster. Gangster Alley will serve as the anchor to this new area, with state of the art special effects littered around to create an atmosphere of “You” in the movies.

l Dorothy’s Flight Above Oz – 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz” was a milestone in film history, with it’s amazing colorful visuals and compelling storyline inspired many other filmmakers, including Walt Disney. Dorothy’s Flight Above Oz is a hot-air balloon dark-ride where guests soar above black and white Kansas, through the famous tornado scene and into the colorful world of Dorothy, and finally through Emerald City. This attraction is a hybrid-dark ride with many high-tech audio animatronics. This dark ride is for all ages, a slow-moving journey

l Carthay Circle – Where Walt Disney held the premiere of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, this is a holy place for Disney fans and is a milestone in film history. Carthay Circle is a high-end club/restaurant/bar with table service course menus and wine selections.

Star Wars Galaxies

Journey into the world of “Star Wars”. This area is the biggest expansion in the park, using the expansion plot behind “Star Tours”, and the old location of “Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular”. This area is branched out of separate planets from the films, each having a unique, mini-land.

l Tatooine

Based on Episode IV and Episode I. This desert planet features the Mos Eisley Spaceport, a bustling town with shops and restaurants. This area is known for “Podracing”,a very famous scene from Episode I. “Tatooine Podracers” takes guests through a high-octane race through the sandy desert of Tatooine. Points of interest include Jabba’s Palace, with a giant rancor appearance and a thrilling encounter with the Sarlacc. Tatooine Podracers is very similar to the neighbouring “Radiator Springs Racers”, using identical vehicles.

Another unique aspect of Tatooine is the famous, “Mos Eisley Cantina”. This restaurant/bar of misfits and outcasts was prominently featured in Episode IV. With live performances by audio animatronics, Mos Eisley Cantina will be a must for Star Wars fans.

l Yavin IV

This planet was featured in “Episode IV”. The planet for rebels, in this planet they set up the mission to destroy the “Death Star”, the empire(bad guys)’s fortress, The Death Star. Now guests enroll as rookie rebels to take on “Death Star Trench Run”. This attraction utilizes vehicles from “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey” at Universal Orlando Resort. The vehicles are mounted on a moving platform, where it can move in 24 different axis of movement to simulate flight and aerial chases. This attraction is technologically advanced, and it sure is thrilling. Using screens and real-life sets, this attraction immerses guests into the Star Wars universe.

l Coruscant

Featured in “Episode III”, Coruscant is a Tokyo-like cityscape with skyscrapers and high traffic. Coruscant is also home to the “Jedi Temple”, headquarter of the Jedi. This area takes place of the former Indiana Jones area, adjacent to “Star Tours”. Thus, Star Tours will be rethemed as a spaceport (in previous years, Star Tours had barely no theming). Adjacent to it will be the giant Jedi Temple, an interactive area where guests can meet and greet with various Star Wars characters. Coruscant will be home to “Jedi Training Academy”, a show for kids which had a temporary stage in front of Star Tours.

Jedi Temple will serve as a permanent stage for this show, ever-popular to the younger audience. This will supply more space to the show and added oppurtunities such as special effects.

l Endor

Featured in “Episode VI”, this foresty, woodsland is inhabited by the teddy-bear like Ewoks. This area recreates the tree-top village. Endor features climeable treehouses. But the most famous, “The Millenium Falcon”.

“The Millenium Falcon” is a life-sized spaceship featuring walkthroughs of some of the famous locations inside this spaceship. Guests can also meet with Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2 and sometimes Boba Fett inside the spaceship. The Millenium Falcon will also be the symbol of “Star Wars Galaxies”, as fans may rejoice about this. The Millenium Falcon also features a live show portraying a dog-fight inside the cockpits. Guests feel immersed with special effects and audio-animatronic personels.

Total Outcomes

BEFORE (HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS NOW)
-14 Attractions
-Less indoor venues
-Less attractions for kids (Only child-friendly attraction was the Great Movie Ride and Toy Story Midway Mania, theming was too old for teens, too scary for adults)
-Inferior to other Disney parks in Disney World(Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom)

AFTER-EXPANSION
-large walkways to accommodate traffic flow in the southern area of the park.
-28 Attractions (The park’s biggest expansion in history).
-More indoor venues to accommodate harsh weather conditions in Florida (Stormy weather, hot summer)
-More food options for a wide variety of guests. Different type of restaurants such as table service/counter -service.
-New venues fusioning with the surrounding areas will give a fresh look to the whole park.
-More child-friendly rides especially in the western area(Pixarland) of the park, increasing guest flow and improving experiences.
-Southern area(Star Wars Galaxies, Golden Hollywood) caters to the adult demographic/teen demographic to sustain equality in guest experiences.

LOL sure it was for a 'class'. SURE.

Nice plans though.

Although, it's doesn't need Sherlock to work it needs new attractions.

You're clamouring for 14 NEW ATTRACTIONS - ROFLMAO, most are begging just to add one things new, and they won't even give us that, and even at that they just replace an attraction - NOT ADD.

It sure is ambitious. I haven't looked at a map of the area, is there the real estate for such a large expansion?

I think that when Star Wars land (in whatever form it ends up coming..) if they don't have a Mos Isley Cantina restaurant, they are missing the boat. There are virtually endless idea for food service from snack carts to food kiosks, to counter service to table service.

I think that there is a bit much in the Pixarland portion of it, but that is just my preference.

You obviously put a lot of thought into it. Good work.
