The University of Oregon's duck mascot no longer answers to Disney. Years ago, an agreement was made between Walt Disney and the university that allowed the school to use an image similar to Donald Duck as their mascot. Until now, Disney has held ownership rights and the school has had to follow rules for how the duck will act and where it can be seen. Disney has decided that the current mascot costume no longer looks enough like Donald to matter. Matt Dyste, UO's director of marketing and brand management, says this is "incredibly gracious" of Disney to do.
