hey.....a old/new member here.....good to be back!!!!

just wanted to know if Disney has abandoned the idea of their "America" park concept for a few years ago....this is the one where they were going to build a Civil War era village complete with a huge lake where two ironclads would battle....the big stink was when they were planning to build this park on the fringe of a existing battlefield.......believe it was the old Bull run battlefield............nothing more has ever been said with that........any comments????

Well, I lived about twenty minutes from where this park was supposed to be. Can;t remember when it was being discussed, but it has to be like 5 years ago or more. I am not 100% sure, but the main problems that were brought up were traffic and problems with congestion and the desire not to have the area turn into a "tourist" trap. I think you are right in thinking there was some issues with location, but we always thought, what better thing to do then to build a park dedicated to the area and time period that the park is built on.

Haven;t heard anything as of late, I remember after they decided to drop the idea for that area, they were thinking and looking for somewhere else to build it...

I still think it would be a wonderful idea for a park.......particularly in the VA/MD/PA region......but not near a battlefield ....I would keep a respectable distance between a battlefield and any sort of tourist attraction theme park......but I think the idea is sound.....I believe everybody loves the American Adventure and Hall of Presidents and Liberty Square themes at Disney and it certainly is something that could be expanded on.....

I think that a completely American themed park would be great---especially somewhere in Western PA (my old home area). They could have different themed areas---Main Street could be Colonial street, there could be a portion that is based around our modern cities, a civil war era portion, etc. It would be fantastic!

Western Pa sounds good to me, but they probably wouldn't like all the snow. Kennywood and Idlewild aren't open that long.

thats true....a park such as Disney America in your region wouldnt be one to stay open year round....unless it was designed in a way that would take advantage of colder weather .....( a Revolutionary War themed area based on Valley Forge...) but that may be out of the question......could you imagine how a colonial era or Victorian era park would look say for Thanksgiving and Christmas time!!!!......but hey what do I know....I live on the gulf coast where you can break a sweat walking to your car.......=)
