Good morning! Has anyone ever been to DQ? This will be my second trip to the world and would like to take the kids to DQ this time around since we skipped it the first time. Any tips, advice, or experiences? I get motion sick, not really badly, but I read that there are a lot of motion simulator rides there. Are some worse than others? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance:D

I have been to DQ a lot and I spend most of my time playing old arcade games like Burger Time, Qbert, and Tron. Yes there are a lot of motion simulators and it will limit your enjoyment to some extent but I think there is plenty of other things to do at DQ. Enjoy

The first thing I would do is check out the height restrictions at DQ and compare it to the heights of your kids. DQ info with height restrictions
DQ has greater height restrictions than any of WDW's 4 main parks and if your kids do not measure up you will quickly find yourself with very little to do. Also it really helps if your kids are into all types of games. If all they care about are first person shooters and rock band there will not be much there for them. If you do decide to go get there early...around 15-30 minutes before opening and preferably on a week day. You will want to do Cyber Space Mountain first as it fills up quickly.

The only real motion simulator there is the one used for Cyber Space Mountain. For that you will be in a 2 person pod that can spin 360 degrees. I get minor motion sickness and did not have a problem with it. If you can handle Star Tours you should be fine.

Be careful with CSM if you decide to do it, especially if you're going in with your kid. I don't really get motion-sick, but every time I ride that with anyone, we end up doing all the really really really intense tracks, and it does affect me. Just keep an eye on the track they're creating, and you should be fine (they're easily labeled from mild to intense with colors).

Yeah, Cyber Space Mountain is pretty cool. I want to do the Animation Academy thing there but it seems like its always filled up. I guess next time I have to go on an off time? We had a lot of fun on the Mighty Ducks pinball game, its big, you'll see it when you are in there. Since I'm also a Star Wars fan, I like to do all the SW games that they have there. Have fun!

My husband gets motion sickness, but the only thing at affected him was cyber space mountain. The jungle cruise was really fun as was their version of the bumper cars.

I am never motion sick, nor do I get dizzy that easily but I rode cyberspace mountain at DLP and it took me out of action for 30 uncomfortable mins.

There is lot's to do at DQ besides the simulators though.

not sure if i would 'pay' to go into DQ. its included on my ticket so i go, its ok for a few hours, some good games there, the river rafting , and the 3d pirates games are good. the dining areas are a bit dirty and grotty. the animation studio is great fun, and we purchased our 'efforts' and got a really nice pluto pin with it.
like i say good for a few hours, specially if its raining, but wouldnt use a park credit for it.

It is amazing how often the "DQ Closing" thread has come up, yet it still seems to be open and doing as well as it has before.

I haven't seen that rumor in a little while now....I wonder if the replacement got scrapped, or if with the closing of the rest of PI they have decided it fits in with the new ideas for the DTD District a bit more.

Give it a week or two and the rumor will come up again.:D

DQ is awful...a bunch of germy kids running around unsupervised...its dark in there and much too cramped...went there on my last trip and it was terrible...the bathroom was so dirty I didn't even want to touch anything to wash my hands...I can't think of anything at the World that I would want to do less than DQ!!!
Colonospocy perhaps?:lookaroun

Of course, it all depends on your family, what you like, how busy it is, etc., but we went to DQ last September, and we don't have any plans for going back again. It does feel cramped, strange to navigate, and the one "special" game that we played (the rafting game) seemed like you were paddling for nothing (I couldn't tell that my actions were making any difference).

I can use WinMAME on my PC to play all of the old arcade games (burger time, pac man, Golden Axe, etc.). When I'm at DISNEY WORLD, why would I really care to spend several hours of my time in a dingy, stinky, dark arcade when I could be out riding a ride or even just checking out another resort or something?

I doubt that I will change anybody's plans for going to DQ (just PLEASE tell me that you're using one of many "Water Park Fun and More" options to go and NOT paying 'full price'), but at least you can say that I warned you after you go. I thought it would be fun to try, so we did it on our last day last year. We were out of park admissions (except for the water park fun and more), and didn't have a lot of time to do other things. So, it wasn't a big deal for us to go, but--given the chance now--I'd take that time back and shop a little more or visit another resort or something...

Sorry, but I just don't have anything good to say about Disney Quest...

We need time for things to happen.
I agree with the previous poster about only doing it under the Water Park and more package...
To pay "full price" for something like that when there are a ton of better things to do in WDW, is just not something I would reccomend.
That being said -
As mentioned if:
1.Your kids meet the height requirements (more strigent that the parks)
2.They enjoy older arcade games ( I can't think of one they DON'T have)
3.You have a little extra time on your hands (first day or last day thing to do)

Then why the heck not.
Also in IMHO the 3-D Pirate ride there is awesome fun for a family and was definitely the highlight of our visit to DQ!

my husband has motion sickness issues and the virtual reality games left him quite queasy, we had to leave. he even wasted most of the next day asleep from the Dramamine he took after breakfast that day. i do not have these issues and enjoy DQ. my advice is to be careful what you do depending on your degree of motion sickness.
have fun

I don't have water park and more option so it does make sense not to go out of my way since i will be paying full price to get in and you are right, there is tons of stuff to do at WDW. I particularly liked DTD and will probably head there the first night we are there since i don't want to waste a day when we get there in the evening.
